The nature and purpose of the law

We already have many good laws in this country. What we need is the proper
implementation/enforcement of these laws.

 Black’s Law Dictionary has defined law as “a body of rules of action or conduct
prescribed by controlling authority and having binding legal force. That which must
be obeyed and followed by citizens subject to sanctions or legal consequence.” Dura
lex sed lex (the law may be harsh, but it is the law) meaning laws must be followed
and enforced, and if anyone disagrees with the result, one must seek to change the
law.

The proposition is true because our country has hundreds of good laws which our
intelligent legislators have enacted. If we read our laws, it comprises provisions that
focus on justice, peace, security, and the Philippine constituents' welfare. However, as
an observation of what is happening in our community (country), these laws are not well-
implemented. They are being compromised. The laws are being violated.
