Advanced Warm Up - Medium Voice:

***Important Note*** For the best results, do every scale and exercise in this advanced
warm up daily.

Directions:

Each exercise is preceded by an explanation and demonstration. It is strongly recommended

that you listen to each instructional track, at least once. Feel free to refer to them often. Only
sing within your comfortable vocal range. Your range will grow, as the muscle tension fades and
your vocal folds strengthen. Do not attempt to rush the process by pushing, squeezing, or
yelling; that's not the way it works. Through freedom we gain power.

How To Get The Tracks:

The tracks for this Advanced Warm Up are attached to this lesson. We have put them in a .Zip
file for anyone that wants to download them and they are in separate .mp3 files for anyone that
wants to place them on their iPhone, iPad, or Android Phone.

AApproach "Medium" Voice Daily Warmup

Baritone, Mezzo Soprano

Am I a Medium Voice type?

Medium voice types are exactly what their name implies, possessing qualities of both the Low
and the High voiced singer. These voices frequently get misclassified by voice teachers, due to
their innate versatility - the medium voiced singer is often capable of singing many of the same
high pitches as his/her Higher voiced peers. However, they can also encounter similar excess
"vocal weight" issues to those of the Low voiced singer. If properly trained, the Medium voice
singer can develop a strong and pliant instrument, performing with very few technical limits! The
keys to unlocking the full potential of the Medium voice:

1) Develop the lower body's natural support mechanism.

2) Give equal attention to top and bottom vocal registers.

3) Strengthen the mix, while discouraging the common urge to tense the neck.

Common characteristics of the Medium voice:

* rich timbre, with solid balance of overtones and undertones

* Relative ease singing at loud volumes in upper register
* Prone to neck tension, from carrying chest voice weight high into upper register
* commonly experiences jaw shake or facial muscle twitches, due to tension
