Dear Sir/Madam,

First of all, I would like to wish you best wishes for good health and successes.

My name is Tran Thi Thuy Hien. I have been accepted into the English for Academic
Preparation (EAP) Program at the International Centre for EAP (Toronto), starting on
February 24, 2020 and the Business - Marketing program at Durham College, Oshawa,
Ontario, Canada, starting in September, 2020. I am writing the letter to apply for a
student permit and share my truly desire to study in your esteemed country.

I was born in Hue, in a middle- family. My parents have worked so hard to give me and
two my sister good study opportunities. Therefore, I always appreciate their efforts and
try my best to learn and work to make them proud.

My favorite quote is Helen Keller's "Defeat is simply a signal to press onward". It has
been my inspiration and motivation to learn and experiences endlessly. Inspired by the
Jack Ma billionaire, I have had a dream to start-up, run my own business when I was in
high school. So, the first step to achieve my targeted goal, I studied hard in high school,
I won Consolation prizes in the National Math Province Contest for Excellent Students in
12th grade and I also participated in many Union activities.

After graduated from senior high school, I pursued professional knowledge in the
University of Economics Ho Chi Minh and majored in Marketing. I had been continually
trying to gain as much knowledge as possible for doing my dream in the future.

While studying 2 years in University of Economics Ho Chi Minh, I found, in my personal

opinion, that the education in Vietnam is not really suitable for my academic goals and
limit my personal growth because it is so heavy in theory. Beside, my university did not
give students many chances to practice what they studied and what students are learnt do
not often meet companies’need. Found myself uninspired and unsatisfied after completed
three semesters in University of Economics Ho Chi Minh, studying abroad idea emerges
in my minds. Morever, I realized my country is now heavily targeted by foreign
companies around the world as they hope to invest in the market and also search for great
human resources along with phenomenal workers. If I am an international student who is
highly skilled and academically instructed by a globally recognized college, I see myself
packed with the potential and confidence that would benefit me in the competition with
other graduates in the future.

This is the reason why I choose to attend the Business Marketing Program offered by
Durham College. I have a strong belief that the course I chose is the best course, totally
fit to my goal and background.

Firstly, Durham College is one of the prestigious public colleges. Studying in here, will
not only receive a deep well-rounded education but also the applied, real-world skills
necessary to achieve academic and career success.

Secondly, I can continue major in Marketing in Vietnam with a systemized academic

knowledge in Durham College to boost my work skills. This course has a very orientated
and realistic outline program. Some subjects I study are Principles Of Sales, Business
Communications, Management, integrated marketing communication,...

Thirdly, Canadian qualifications are highly valued around the world so after graduating, I
can easily find a suitable job in Vietnam.

Morever, I think I could take chances more in the developed environment in Canad.
Canada is recognized as one of the best world – class educational systems over the world.
Comparing to other developed countries such as USA, Australia, UK and France, Canada
offers reasonable tuition fee and living cost. Furthermore, Canada is not only the multi-
culture country, but also famous for its natural beauty, clean country, good healthcare
system and well organized public transportation. Therefore, Canada is the right place
which I study various of developing culture all around the world, widening my horizon
and accumulate experiences in the future.

Although Canada is rated as one of the most worth-living country in the world and the
ideal place for settling down, being successful in my hometown is always my dream.
After completed the Business - Marketing program, I want to return to my home country
to apply my knowledge and skills to my start-up ideas with my friends from my
university in Vietnam. The more important is that I want to return to take care of my
parents, live the whole life with them in my hometown.

I believe that studying abroad is a good chance for me t get a higher position in my future
career path. I will try my best to make my dream come true by all the valuable
knowledge and skills I had learned. Finally, I would like to say thank you for your
consideration to my application and hope that with my sincerest statement the officers
would understand my ambition and grant me a chance to learn and experience in Canada.
