► Stage 1 the loooong text on page 46, but as you have found 3 relevant ideas in the text in the
opening of the lesson, let’s make our lives easy!

Phase a) You already see in the text title the expression cultural clashes (conflicts!), so you have
altready understood the topic. Last last time I asked you to explain the value of the word minefield, in
the 1st paragraph .

minefield =
1 field for military training?
2 metaphorically dangerous zone?
3 a mine, a place under the earth , full of mineral resources?

Phase b) the text is segmented in some paragraphs. Ex Reading page 47 asks you to find the matching
introducing ideas, missing in the text.
paragraph 4 → completing idea ???
(hand shake in the Orient-Middle \East, position of legs and showing the shoes in Islamic
societies)

paragraph 7 → completing idea?

(Japan is small country with lots of people, just think of the crowded trains…)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Phase c) ex 2 page 47 What social etiquette is important for business travellers to Romania !!! Think of
3-5 possible aspects/rules, where foreigners should pay attention

-Gestures? When to whom?

-Body language (formal/informal|?

-Speaking in loud voice? Yelling?

-Language (formal/informal?)
