For any inquiries, call the sales office from which you purchased the product, or contact
the nearest OVAL representative in our customer service network.
◆ Reminder ◆
When you make inquiries, include the product name, model No., serial No. and other pertinent
information.

6. INSTALLATION
6.1 Installation Guidelines
(1) Select a location easy to access for inspection and maintenance.
(2) Avoid a location subject to excessive temperature variation and vibration.
(3) Avoid direct exposure to the sun. (Provide a sunshade or similar protection to keep the meter out of
exposure to direct sunlight if necessary.)
(4) Avoid a location where immersion in water is a possibility.
(5) Select a location free from an atmosphere of corrosive gases.
(6) Location should be free from dust and mist.
(7) Separate at least one meter from sources of electromagnetic induction, such as large transformers
and motors. Also, keep the meter away as far as possible from the sources of severe vibration,
such as motors and pumps.
(8) To ensure consistent and accurate measurement, adhere to the instructions in 6.2 Physical
Orientation, 6.3 Installation Location, 6.4 Installation Guidelines, and 6.6 Installing Proper Pipe
Supports.
(9) The Coriolis flowmeter requires an installation location where pipeline oscillation is held below
0.3G to ensure consistent and accurate measurement. External vibration (including pulsation)
particularly with the same frequency as the drive frequency of the measuring pipe may affect the
measurement. Contact OVAL regarding drive frequency of each model.
(10) Locate the control valve downstream of the flowmeter.
Where cavitation is likely to occur, install the flowmeter at least five meters away.

Obviously, there is high risk with installation IN OUT
(removal) of this equipment. Therefore, we
,
suggest you, for safety s sake, to leave this work
to authorized personnel experienced in sling
work and crane operation (observing applicable
regulations).
Shown in Fig. 6.13 is the center of gravity of Center
equipment. When working with a vertical run of gravity
in particular, carefully review proper slinging
position, etc. with its weight and center of gravity
in mind.
Incidentally, two M20 (CA100 to CA200) eyebolts*1
(made of SUS304) are installed in the housing Fig. 6.13
of sensor unit (two places). Since eyebolts can
become loose and come off with time due to
vibration, it is good practice to retighten firmly or
remove upon installation in the piping assembly.

Replacement of parts such as o-rings and sheet packing for transmitter and
terminal box
O-rings and gaskets are used as sealing components with limited service life.
Although the exact service life depends on the operating environment, periodic replacement is
recommended. Recommended replacement period: 5 to 8 years after the delivery
CAUTION: 1. Whenever you open or disassemble the instrument, inspect the O-rings
and gaskets. Replace the deteriorated parts.
2. To ensure the soundness, periodic re-torquing of the corresponding parts
is recommended.
Corresponding parts:
Transmitter: O-ring between display lid (front) - body

CAUTION
Cautions in assembling
(1) : Putting the cable through rubber packing, screw in the gland and press the packing. In this, make
sure to screw in the gland enough until the cable stops.
(2) : This cable gland is furnished with a hook. After (1), make sure to screw in the clamp with a M4
screw and fix the cable.
◆ Tighten up the part firmly so as not to have clearance between the cable and rubber packing.
◆ If there are any electric conduits not used, seal them properly with the pertaining close-up plug
supplied by OVAL to prevent intrusion of rain water and dust.

NOTE:
[COMMUNICATION CONFIGURATION]
The subject transmitter has functions of analog output, pulse output and communication function. The following 4 protocols
utilized in the communication
1. HART
2. FOUNDATION fieldbus
3. PROFIBUS PA
4. Modbus
The HART communication is made by superimposing the signal on the analog signal (TB2’s A1 and A2 on the terminal
board), using A1 and A2 of the external terminal, i.e., TB2. The Modbus communication is made possible by adding a
maintenance board to the build-in blind board, using TB4 (VO+.VO-) of the terminal board as external terminal. As for the
PROFIBUS communication, by removing the blind-board and connection the“PROFIBUS UNIT”which combined from
FB-A board, FB-B board and FKB-2 board to the same place, the communication is made possible, using the TB4 (I/O+, I/
O-) as external terminal as well as in the Modbus.
Both of the HART and Modbus communication are not of IS circuits.
[PROFIBUS communication: FBK-2]
The FBK-2 board is the main component for PROFIBUS communication, and also is an ATEX / IECEx Ex component
which certified as component (PTB 12 ATEX 2028X, IECEx PTB 13.0018X), satisfying the requirements of the standards
below.
-EN60079-0: 2012 / IEC60079-0: 2011
-EN60079-11: 2012 / IEC60079-11: 2011
*FBK-2 board is an unpowered type.
The communication signal between the transmitter and the bus line is first input in the FBK-2 via the terminal board and
base board, then transmitter to the CPU board via the FB-A board, the transmitter and bus line are separated. A galvanic
isolation element is used for the separation.
[IS configuration]
To satisfy with the IS requirements in the PROFIBUS line (circuit) and the other circuits (general circuits). i.e., from the
terminal board to FBK-2 board. The separation distance (the creepage distance under the coating) is configured on the
peak voltage of 375V. Also, in a plastic cover and the FB-A cover are used for protection (solid separation distance). Thus,
the following PROFIBUS concept can be realized.
[Supplementary note]
Naturally, when the Modbus or PROFIBUS communication is working on, any analog outputs, pulse outputs or status are
not used.
[Collective term for PROFIBUS and FOUNDATION fieldbus (FF) communications]
The difference of PROFIBUS communication and that in FF is attributable to the write-in description of the software, and
actually there is no difference in their transmitters.
Thus, it is described as“PROFIBUS communication”as collective term. Further 17th digit of the product code is identified
as“2: FOUNDATION fieldbus”and“3: PROFIBUS communication“each.
