MLA Basics checklist

 Double space paper

 Use a legible font (12 pt)
 Indent beginning of each paragraph (TAB)
 Create a header that numbers all pages consecutively in the paper right hand corner (last name,
page number)
 Include a works cited page for any references (titles works cited page)

First Page

Upper right hand corner of the first page list name, instructor’s name, the course, and the date (all
double spaced)

Example:

Morgan Rogge

Professor Man

English 105

In-text Citation

An in-text citations are sed to help a reader find the source of the quoted material on the work cited
page.

Example:

Lee provides a rich history for her characters, “it was customary….to make their living from cotton”
(book, 65)

For Citations, use, PURDUE OWL

ALL in text citations should have a corresponding Citation page

Stick to websites that end in.org, .edu, .gov

DO NOT use wikipedia

THERE SHOULD BE NO UNKNOWN SOURCES IN THE BIBLIOGRPAHY
