Description: Students are to keep a Private Lesson Journal throughout the semester, using the applicable form. Students are expected to know
the requirements to successfully complete the assignment by referring to the Private Lesson Journal rubric in the LMS.

1. Write a summary of each lesson, including repertoire assigned, direction for improvements needed, and any other direction or assignments
given by the instructor.
2. Keep a daily practice log, including date, length of practice session, and material practiced.
3. Create a plan of action to address the comments given by the instructor and any other assignments given for the week.
4. Reflect on your daily practice, including progress on mastering repertoire assigned, effectiveness of corrective action taken, improvements
in technique and repertoire, and completion of any other direction or assignments given by the instructor.
5. Update the journal daily.
6. In the first and last entries, demonstrate how your private lessons will be or have been a reflection of your world view as it pertains
to ethics, preparation, time management, recital etiquette, repertoire, among other things. The Fruit of the Spirit from Galatians
5:22-23 is a good example of the qualities to be developed.
7. Submit the journal to LoudCloud at least 12 hours prior to a scheduled private lesson class meeting, within that specific Private Lesson
Class Meeting assignment. LoudCloud may not accurately reflect a due date of 12 hours prior to the scheduled class meeting, due to the
individual scheduling of private instruction. The time requirement for class participation preparation must be met each week prior to the
scheduled lesson time.
8. Weekly entries are required after each lesson, but the completed Private Lesson Journal is to be submitted as a graded assignment
immediately following completion of the Final Performance Summary and Reflection.
9. Submit the final completed copy of the Private Lesson Journal after the jury examination.
10. This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the Private Lesson Journal rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with
the expectations for successful completion.
