Heat Sensor
 Abstract

The main property of a heat sensor is to sense the heat, which is present around the

sensor. When the set value of the temperature is high, then it is indicated with the help of

a glowing LED. The usage of heat sensor circuit is inside your PC or in your kitchen.

Due to overheating, the expensive components present in the PC or kitchen appliances

could be damaged. When the temperature around the heat sensor increases above its set

value, then it senses the heat and gives an indication, so that we can protect the devices

from damage. Heat sensor circuit senses the heat from various electronic devices like

amplifiers, computer etc., and thus generates the warning alarm.

 Components Required

1. 110 Ohms Thermistor

2. Resistor 100 Ohms 1/4w is used as R2 and a 3.3k 1/4w resistor is used as R1.

3. Zener Diode

4. Transistor BC547 (NPN)

5. Buzzer 9V

6. Capacitor 1uF/16V

7. Battery 9V
 Construction & Working

In this circuit NPN transistor BC548 acts as a switch and it turn ON buzzer when the

temperature rises over the threshold and turn OFF buzzer when the temperature below the

threshold. The NTC thermistor is connected with the resistor and Base terminal of

Transistor. Here R1 resistance value decides the temperature threshold. Buzzer element is

connected with battery and transistor collector terminal.

If there is no temperature source are rise of temperature then the thermistor gives full

resistance the bias from battery to base terminal of transistor, when the temperature gets

rise then Resistance value of transistor gets decrease and allows bias from battery to base

terminal of transistor, then transistor gets turn ON and makes the buzzer sound.

 Analysis

We analyze that the resistance drops when the temperature increases. Resistance of

thermistor is set by R1 and if the temperature is below the preset level, transistor will be

out of conduction and keeps the buzzer and LED off. When the temperature near the

thermistor increases, transistor conducts and buzzer beeps

 Conclusion

Mostly, this type of devices does not include much of detail and does not include much of

the cost to develop them so they can also be developed easily with the help of least

knowledge about the electronics. It can be used for fire/heat detectors, industrial beverage

machines, pool and spa control system, white goods / appliances, water temperature

control system, environmental monitoring, automotive applications, aerospace

applications, medical applications, healthcare and patient monitoring.
