It is temperature
controlled, and includes a restroom for student use. The room also has cubbies and coat
hooks for each of the students.
Social Contract - Students will be seated in groups of two, but can easily turn around or to the
side and talk to their classmates.
Symbolic Identification - Flags, representative of the students’ culture, along with photos of
their families will be displayed in the classroom.
Task Instrumentality - Art supplies is located next to the sink. Core areas have their own space.
Pleasure - The room has plants, rugs, and bean bags to provide different textures and an
inviting aesthetic.
Growth - There is a chart serving as a reading log for each of the students and a Growth
Mindset poster.
Creative expression - Bean bags, books, plants, windows, and art supplies will be provided so
that students can engage creatively.
Inquiry Based Approach - Students will be encouraged to work together to solve problems and
will be encouraged to play with materials and textures (blocks, cameras, Rubik’s cubes, among
other textures).
