COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course highlights the concept of statistics for quantitative research method in terms of:
1. Types of Data / Scales of Measurement – Nominal, Ordinal, Interval, Ratio
2. Presentation in the form of Frequency distribution table and Graphical presentation.
3. Measurement of Central Tendency: mean, median, and mode
4. Validity and Reliability
5. Testing assumptions: Normality and Homogeneity
6. Testing Hypotheses
a. Independent Samples t-test
b. Dependent (Paired) Samples t-test

COURSE OBJECTIVE
At the end of the course the students are expected to have theoretical and practical knowledge
of:
1. Describing appropriate application of displaying and analyzing quantitative research
data.
2. Interpreting the result of analysis in the form of graph and table.
3. Selecting appropriate test for testing hypotheses.
4. Interpreting the result of the data analysis in testing hypotheses.

Presentation and discussion, exercises, and summaries.

EVALUATION
Participation (attendance) 10%
Group assignment (presentation and summary* of each topic) 25%
Mid test (open book written test) 30%
Final test (Final Project) 35%
Note:
*) Presentation’s score will be taken from the average of group score and individual
participation score.
Presentation will be scored based on the following aspects
 The clearness of material and explanation
 The clearness of examples and/or ilustration supporting the material and explanation
 Appropriateness in answering the question/s from audience
 The use of appropriate media/s in giving explanation and examples an/or ilustration
will be considered to add the score
**) The summary should not be more than 1 page for each topic
(F4, normal margins, Times New Roman 11/12, single space)
