ImpactTek Internship

Narrative Essay: Br. Ahmed Adde

For the past few months, I have been an administrative intern at ImpactTek. During those

months, I worked with many remarkable people and the one that I chose to interview was Br.

Ahmed Adde. I chose him because he was my main helper when I was working and was in

contact with him the most. I also wanted to talk to him because he was a leader of the

organization and I wanted to see how the company was from and Internship perspective.

Br. Ahmed Adde is the CEO and president of the organization. He is responsible for the

major decisions of the organization including enacting the mission of the organization, putting

together services that will be offered to the community, and being the face of the organization.

He started ImpactTek in 2019 and funded it himself to train underprivileged communities in the

world of Information Technology. He previously had 9 years of experience and uses that

experience for IT training programs. His responsibilities for ImpactTek are to put together

training programs, hire instructors and recruit students. Br. Ahmed recommends that to get

started in the IT world you should start as IT support or IT helpdesk and take classes (from

ImpactTek) to go further in the field. He also advises that in to get into those entry jobs and to go

further in the job pyramid, you should get certified in CompTIA A+, which is the entry level IT

certification, then apply to IT support jobs, and then you can build your IT experience to apply

for cyber security jobs.

To be able to join this line of work, you need certifications. Br. Ahmed says that you

should get certified in CompTIA A+, Security+ and CEH. This will help you get jobs in

cybersecurity/IT. Being in the IT field does have its moments, good and bad. For Ahmed, his

most satisfying moment is when he gets students a living by training them and them getting a

well-paying job. He says that the satisfaction is immense knowing that he is helping people. His

most challenging moment however is coaching students and inspiring them to study and take the

certification exam. He says that it is very hard as some people are not sure of themselves. In the

line of work, there are always new changes. Br. Ahmed says that the changes are happening

every couple of years as it is a developing field, and the learning curve and adjusting to the new

information and technology is difficult.

For the Final question I asked him what he saw as major problems for those working in

Information Technology today, and he gave me a surprising answer. He said that new students

do not really learn as they should, and they come into the role clueless not knowing how to do

tasks. He said that he knows people who graduated with IT degrees and did not know how to

code. This came as a shock to me because I thought that would be the basics to Information

Technology. He mentioned that more people should invest in their IT education, which after

what he said, I agreed.

Br. Ahmed was a very knowledgeable person and he showed that when I interviewed

him. I really appreciate his views on the IT field and am fortunate to have met and learned from

him. His work is helping other people as he is doing a non-profit and I salute him for doing it.

Inshallah I wish the best and all the success for Br. Ahmed and ImpactTek in the present ad in

the future
