A train carries an artificially produced virus, which is extremely
dangerous. If the virus is released into the atmosphere, thousands of people
will die because of it. George is one of the scientists responsible for the safe destruction of the virus, and monitors the transport from a bridge. As the train approaches, he sees through binoculars that a powerful bomb has been placed on the railroad tracks, and there is no way to communicate this information to stop the train in a timely manner. If the train passes the bomb, then it will explode and the virus will be released into the atmosphere, producing catastrophic consequences. On the bridge, next to George, is an obese person. The only way to stop the train is for George to push the person in front of the train, although that will bring him death. George continues with this plan and pushes the obese person in front of the train, causing his death, but he prevents the explosion and saves thousands of people who would have died to the virus.
The message of this fable is very profound because it is based on sacrifice.
George sacrificed the life of a man to prevent the explosion and saved thousands of people who would have died of the virus. But on the other side everybody has the right to live. No one can take this right from anyone and George didn’t have to push that person in front of the train. if he wanted to make a sacrifice for the whole world, why he didn’t jump in front of the train, to sacrifice his own life but he took somebody’s live. If he had sacrifice his own life ,then he was to be truly called a hero, a savior. And I think that after his death his soul will go to heaven , God would be to appreciate the deed done by him and his soul would be received in the empire of God. To sacrifice own life for save thousands of lives, for it, is need a lot of courage and faith in God. I don’t think that pushing the obese man was the best option chosen. This means that he thought more about his own life, how he could save his life but not the life of the obese man or other people. I think the choice given to George was not sent by God but by the devil. The devil was in his mind and put him to the test of pushing the man in front of the train. He lacked faith, and the fear of God chose this path. But the other side ,it’s easy to judge someone and say that insead of him, I wasn’t going do that, but when we get into such a situation every man wants to live and thinks about how to save his own life . We are born with the fear of death, only a man truly with great faith and courage could do a heoric deed.
