HEALTHIER MUESLI BAR

Why is this muesli bar healthier?

Original Recipe

Ingredients

125g butter
1 c white sugar
2 T golden syrup
1 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 c desiccated coconut
1 egg
1 c mixed dried fruit
5 Weetbix
1 banana mashed

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Spray a 20cm x 30cm sponge roll tin with non-sticking
baking spray.
2. Place butter, sugar and golden syrup into a large saucepan, and stir over a medium
heat until melted.
3. Remove from heat and add all other ingredients. Mix thoroughly.
4. Press into prepared tin and bake for 20 minutes.
5. Cut into bars while still warm but leave in the tin until completely cool before
removing.

2 T golden syrup – 2 T Honey Syrup
1 c flour – 1 C wholegrain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 c desiccated coconut
1 egg
1 c mixed dried fruit - 2 T lemon zest and ½ C Raisins and 1/3 Dates and Small amount of
Prunes
5 Weetbix
1 banana mashed
1 c seeds

Updated Recipe

1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Spray a 20cm x 30cm sponge roll tin with non-sticking
baking spray.
2. Place butter, stevia and Honey into a large saucepan, and stir over a medium heat until
melted.
3. Remove from heat and add all other ingredients except prunes. Mix thoroughly.
4. Press into prepared tin and place prunes in a grid layout.
5. Bake for 20 minutes.
6. Cut into bars while still warm but leave in the tin until completely cool before
removing.
