5 minutes Good morning everyone! This is our first session that will tackle about the Welcome and 1:00 – 1:05
sudden changes in the usual daily delivery modes from school-based learning Introduction
to home-based learning. As we adopt the New Normal, as an institution, we
need to stratify teaching-learning mechanisms without any student left
behind. In these tough times, we need to act as one.

I’m Ma’am Jhie Ann B. Buising and I will be introducing you the New
Normal in Education this afternoon. This will give us keen understanding on
how to develop instructional strategies. Also, this will provide as the platform
for recommendations, ideas, and queries to collectively create plans on how
we will implement effective and efficient practices applicable to our current
situation.
20 minutes The topic that we will be exploring is about Engagement in the realization 1. Activity The participants will share their 1:05 – 1:25

families about their involvement. LGUs or Brgy. Councils can also help in
ensuring safe blended learning environments amongst families.

Before we proceed to the discussion proper. Here I have a quotation for

you to explain: “WE sense that ‘normal’ isn’t coming back, that we are being
born into a new normal: a new kind of society, a new relationship to the
earth, a new experience of being human.” — Charles Eisenstein

With this, I want to harness opinions or ideas about what this modern
adage does reflects. I will be giving you 5 minutes to critically and ethically
think then another 5 minutes for the room for discussion.
Your presented ideas will be possibly encountered as we go further in our
discussion.
State the Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the participants should be able to:

pandemic
3. Impart home-based learning techniques to parents
4. Develop adjustable modalities for diverse learners
As we continue our discussion, we will be analyzing possible situations
which complement challenges in the attainment of our objectives. This will
help us to improve our individualistic and collective ways to apprehend the
needed tools and resources for this academic endeavor. Hence, we will be
making a consensus on our core priorities that we need to improvise.

What do you think activity

 After showing you the instructional tools that we are obliged to

have, what do you think will be the possible obstacles that we
need to break considering the requirements of this new learning?
I thank everyone for sharing their suggestions on how we will manage this
new system. Everyone is absolutely right that lack of adequate resources
especially of remote areas are possibly one of the encounters. Aside from
that, low interconnectivity may obstruct the communication that teachers
need to connect to his or her learners.

 What do you think are the innovations that we can make to

surpass the challenges ahead?

Indeed, we can innovate our instructional materials to encapsulate

availability to every student. Not all students have the capacity to make a
conducive learning environment. Henceforth, we need to cooperate with the
parents in teaching their children as well as the other branches of the
community pertaining to the Brgy. Officials, SK Councilors, and Alumni who
can help in providing resources and learning security to children.

 What do you think about making connections within the scope

of the community to make this all happen?

Let’s remember how important clear communication lines. As teachers,

we need to decide what communication platforms we will be using from the
options such as SMS, Facebook chat or calls, and emails. This must consider
the situations of every family in order to create a system where we can
connect to them regularly.

This will help us in monitoring the progress of our learners for we can still
connect with them despite the geographical distance and the risks of
susceptibility to Covid-19 virus.

After watching the video, suggest creative or innovative ways that may
help children learn outside the lesson premises. We can consider applying
the techniques mentioned in the video. Also, we can reconstruct the said
ways with innovation to achieve enjoyable learning that may take children
away from textbooks, modules, or screens for some time.

always check with regularity the physical, emotional, and mental health of
the learners; this is also for tapping the learners’ intrinsic and extrinsic
motivation to learn. With this, attaining independent learning skills may not
be obstructed because the children still feel the teachers’ and parents’
presence and guidance throughout their learning processes.

In our session, we’ve paved ways on how we will support parental

involvement in the Distance Learning / Blended learning brought by the New
Normal. Dealing with challenges were also part of the session’s scope to
initially equip ourselves with the ethical characteristics of a good teacher. We
also have centered our discussion about the learning motivation amidst
homes.

I thank everyone for sparing their time, attention, and interest. Let’s
continue masking ourselves to unmask the possibilities of the New Normal
in Education. Thank you so much.
