Community Connection Reflection

Alex and Ani
Steve Bone works as a graphic designer and marketer for the popular jewelry company,
Alex and Ani. He creates multiple new color palettes with displays and model poses for a pitch
to what their seasonal collections should look like. He also chooses the models for each photo.
He manages a team of creative designers where the company is found, in Rhode Island. This is
one of his challenges, the time difference between Georgia and Maine makes it hard for him to
communicate with his team during photoshoots. However, the best part about his job to him is
his team. Working with them is always fun and full of life, it is not frustrating but liberating. But
there is an obvious challenge, that he had no prior experience with jewelry or the fashion
industry. But due to his past jobs as a lead creative thinker he was able to create eye-catching
pieces that would show through their profits. I had a look into what their summer ads might look
like, vivid complementary colors with beautiful women holding fruit and flowers. Each picture
looked like a work of art, it made me want to buy their products even more. While this appeals to
their younger crowds, the CEO was concerned it would not sell due to the older demographic. I
was unaware of how much effort goes into marketing advertising, and this interview has opened
my eyes to the dedication of customer satisfaction.
