BIOGRAPHY OF LA VENENO

I decided to talk about Cristina La Veneno because she had a life where we can see different social
problems with the trans community, sexism and homophobia, also the dehumanization for the
Media that for having a good audience they can use a person how a simple exhibition object, as well
how a bad childhood can affect the human future; in the case of Cristina, the lack of family affection
made her decided to be with the wrong people, besides the obsession with the fame to the point
that she hurt herself just for the fake love on the TV.

Cristina Ortiz Rodriguez (better known as La Veneno) was born in Adra, Almeria the 19 of March of
1964. She was singer, actress, Vedette and TV character who was one of the most recognized figures
of the Spanish Television in the 90s in addition to be an icon of the LGBT community.

CHILDHOOD AND PRE-ADOLESCENCE

She was from a humble family, her parents were Jose Maria Ortiz Lopez and Maria Jesus Rodriguez
Rivera; she was named like Jose Antonio, name which time later she decide changed to Cristina for
her gender identity. She had six siblings and since childhood she knew how different was from the
other kids.

In the adolescence discovered that she was transgender and since there she began to suffered
violence from her neighborhoods and family, all of this made she leave her hometown in the age of
14 to Marbella for her liberty. In all that time she felt alone and approached bad men who took
advantage of her innocence.

In a gay bar from Marbella called Torremolinos she meet her best friend Paca la Piraña and then in
1992 traveled with her sister to Madrid for a competition, there she won an airplane ticket to
Thailand where she finds herself and what she wanted for her life. After her trip she choose living in

and met too many recognized artist like Ricky Martin, also worked as a model for the fashion

Whit the pass of the time her fame began to lose. However, she was still participated in some tv
programs since 2000s to 2003 but in the same year, her boyfriend in back then accused Cristina for
fraud and was sentenced for three years in a masculine prison where she was abused and raped to
many times. During and after her sentence she was forgiven for her worker partners, friends and
couples.

Physically and Psychologically worsened and in 2007 she came back thanks to the reality “¿Donde
estas Corazon?” and recovered some recognition more for her problems with other famous people.
In 2010 the same program challenged her to lose weight, in that way she lost 35 kilos. To fulfill the
challenge she recurred to bulimia, time later was diagnosed with depression.
