Summative Assessment: Civi Engagement Poem


Students will be required to write a poem that reflects their identity as well as political
ideologies. Using an identity star and discussions from previous units, students will convey
meaning, emphasizing the double meaning of words and figurative language. Examples include
Immigration, LGBTQ Rights, Black Lives Matter, Education, Etc. The poem's length must be at
least half a page that consists of the following aspects: Five implementations of figurative
language, five references to identity, two political themes addressed, with connectivity between
identity and political themes.
