and temperature in turning Process.

Abstract
Cooling and Lubricant agent in MQL is an important to enhance machinability . This paper
analyzed the comparison of the effect of chilled air coolant with dry cooling and MQL on
surface roughness and temperature in turning process. The compressed was chilled with using
vortex tube. Hot air and cold air were produced by means of vortex tube from the source of
compressed air. The tests were conducted on a conventional turning machine with TiAIN
coated carbide tools .Temperature and Surface roughness were measured .Results were
analyzed . The results showed that chilled air cooling gave the better surface finish and low
temperature than the MQL.
Dry cooling with chilled air coolant can be used as an alternative of cooling and lubricant agent
because MQL is an uneconomical process than the dry cooling with chilled air coolant using
vortex tube. Chilled air coolant with dry cooling using vortex tube is also safe than MQL.
Objectives of research
To get lower surface finish and reduce the cutting temperature is the main objective in this
research.
Methodology
MQL technique was used to measure surface roughness and cutting temperature and chilled air
coolant with dry cooling using vortex tube was used. In this two process , chilled air coolant
with dry cooling using vortex tube gave lower cutting temperature and lower surface
roughness.
Chilled air coolant with dry cooling using vortex tube is the alternative of another cooling
lubricant agent which will beneficial to industrial applications because it is economical than the
other flood coolant and other cooling lubricant agents.
