LIGHTING

1. GENERAL (Figures 1 and 2)

The a i r c r a f t l i g h t i n g system comprises i n t e r i o r l i g h t i n g and e x t e r i o r


l i g h t i n g . The i n t e r i o r l i g h t i n g consists o f the f l i g h t compartment, the
passenger cabin and the service compartment l i g h t i n g . The e x t e r i o r l i g h t i n g
consists of r e c o g n i t i o n / t a x i and l a n d i n g , navigation, a n t i - c o l l i s i o n , wing ice
inspection and emergency l i g h t i n g .

2. FLIGHT COMPARTMENT LIGHTING (Figures 3 through 5)

A. Floodlighting

Nine fluorescent l i g h t s , i n s t a l l e d below and along the g l a r e s h i e l d , provide


panel f l o o d l i g h t i n g . The panels provided with f l o o d l i g h t i n g and the
location of t h e i r f l o o d l i g h t i n g controls are as f o l l o w s :

B. I n t e g r a l Lighting

The integral l i g h t i n g i s c o n t r o l l e d by f o u r dimmer s w i t c h e s , one located on


each of the f o l l o w i n g panels:

D. Map Reading Lighting (Figures 1 and 3)


The map reading lighting consists of two incandescent lights, one on either
side of the overhead panel. The left reading light is controlled by the
MAP LIGHT LH switch on the cabin lighting panel. The right reading light
i s controlled by the MAP LIGHT RH switch on the cabin lighting panel.
E. Circuit Breaker Panel Lighting (Figures 3, 4 and 5)
Integral lighting for CBP-A and CBP-B i s controlled by the INST OFF-BRT
knob on the centre instrument/pedestal lighting panel, located on the
centre pedestal.
Integral lighting for CBP-C is controlled by the INST OFF-BRT knob on the
pilot's instrument lighting panel, located on the centre pedestal.
Integral lighting for CBP-D is controlled by the INST OFF-BRT knob on the
copilot's instrument lighting panel, located on the centre pedestal.

3. PASSENGER CABIN LIGHTING


A. Dome and Boarding Lights (Figure 6)
Lighting for the passenger cabin consists of dome and boarding lights,
located at the passenger/crew entrance door. The dome light is controlled
by the DOME switch on the overhead lighting panel.
The boarding light is controlled by the BOARDING switch on the overhead
lighting panel, or by a switch beside the entrance door.
B. Cabin Signs (Figure 7)
The NO SMOKING and FASTEN SEAT BELT cabin signs are controlled by the
NO SMKG and SEAT BLTS switches on the door warning and cabin signs control
panel on the centre pedestal. The switches have three positions:
ON/OFF/AUTO. In the AUTO position, both signs light up automatically for
any of the following conditions:
Cabin pressure is low
LDG GEAR lever is to DN
TEST switch on the landing gear control panel i s pressed
The FASTEN SEAT BELT sign also comes on i f the flaps are moved from the
O-degree position.

SERVICE COMPARTMENT LIGHTING (Figure 6)

There are f i v e l i g h t s i n the service compartments: one in the underfloor


avionics bay, three in the r e a r fuselage compartment bay, and one i n the nose
landing gear w e l l . The service l i g h t s are c o n t r o l l e d by the SERVICE l i g h t
switch on the overhead l i g h t i n g panel. The service l i g h t s i n the underfloor
avionics bay and the rear fuselage equipment bay can also be c o n t r o l l e d by
switches located i n the bays.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

A. Recognition/Taxi and Landing Lights (Figures 2 and 6)

One r e c o g n i t i o n / t a x i l i g h t and one landing l i g h t are mounted i n the leading


edge o f each wing close t o the fuselage, and two landing l i g h t s are located
i n the bulkhead of the nose compartment.

The control switches f o r the r e c o g n i t i o n / t a x i and landing l i g h t s are on the


overhead l i g h t i n g panel. The RIGHT LANDING LTS and LEFT LANDING LTS
switches control both the landing and t a x i l i g h t s on the corresponding
s i d e . The RECOG/TAXI LT switch controls the t a x i l i g h t s on both sides.
The NOSE LANDING LTS switch controls the two landing l i g h t s i n the nose
compartment.

B. Navigation Lights (Figures 2 and 6)

The navigation l i g h t s are c o n t r o l l e d by the NAV switch on t h e overhead


l i g h t i n g panel. There are two navigation l i g h t s : one green l i g h t on the
r i g h t wing t i p and one red l i g h t on the l e f t wing t i p .

C. A n t i - C o l l i s i o n Lights (Figures 2 and 6)

One a n t i - c o l l i s i o n l i g h t i s located w i t h each navigation l i g h t assembly.


The a n t i - c o l l i s i o n l i g h t s are c o n t r o l l e d by the ANTI COLLISION switch on
the overhead l i g h t i n g p a n e l .

D. Wing Ice Inspection Lights (Figures 2 and 6)

Two wing ice inspection l i g h t s are located above each wing, one on the l e f t
and one on the r i g h t s i d e o f the fuselage. The l i g h t s are controlled by
the WING switch on the overhead l i g h t i n g panel.

E. Emergency Lights (Figures 2 and 7)

Four emergency l i g h t s are provided f o r use during emergency evacuation o f


the a i r c r a f t . Three overwing f l o o d l i g h t s are located on t h e r i g h t side o f
the fuselage and a ground f l o o d l i g h t i s located forward o f the
passenger/crew entrance door. Power f o r the l i g h t s is supplied by two
emergency b a t t e r i e s .

The lights are controlled from the emergency lighting panel by a


three-position switch, ON/OFF/ARM- Two lights, EMER LTS ON and EMER LTS
OFF, on the emergency lighting panel, show the status of the emergency
lights (refer to Figure 7 ) .
