Brief Description of Duties of Administrative Mentor:


Mr. Chatman is one of the top assistant principals at Detroit Public Schools, and
his role reaches beyond his assigned building. He is a Professor at Wayne County
Community College District for over 35 years; he works on his seventh graduate-
level degree with four Masters and two Ed. S degrees, and soon he will have his
Ed. D. degree in Administration K-12. I had the pleasure of working with him for
close to ten years. Mr. Chatman is always in gear, actively working on training
staff on the latest updates. His forward-thinking and ability to see situations from a
big-picture perspective have caused him to be viewed as highly regarded
throughout the district and at the college level.

Description of Environment:
This study uses data obtained from Detroit Public Schools District is the heartbeat
of Detroit schools with 106 buildings throughout the north, south, east, and west of
the Detroit borders; it also covers the high school insular city of Highland Park.
The district serves 50,016 students K-12, special education-center-based schools,
Adult Special Education, and Adult Education. The district employs 1,905
teachers.
