What is Selective Breeding?

What is genetic engineering? Genetic Engineering is the manipulation or changing of the

DNA of an organism. Selective breeding is also a type of genetic engineering. Selective Engineering
is the process when humans use animal breeding and plant breeding to develop by choosing which
animal or plant will produce and have offspring together. Selective breeding is a positive
embracement towards the earth and population, plant and animals alike.

Some can conclude that selective breeding is a good thing for the plant's and animal's behalf.
It's also for humans, who still have benefited. Others may argue on this topic because it could make
some diseases more dangerous as all the organisms would be affected. Also, there is an increased risk
of genetic disease. Recessive alleles, which is why it's majorly common to use dominant alleles for
both parents. However, Selective breeding is also known as artificial selection. it’s a process used by
humans to develop new organisms with desirable characteristics. Selective breeding can produce
tastier fruits and vegetables, crops with extended resistance to pests, and larger animals for meat.

Selective breeding can result in better quality products and higher yields in plants and
animals for specific characteristics. This is true because many domestic animals and plants are the
result of centuries of selective breeding. Without selective breeding, many domestic animals would
not exist and many plants that we rely on for food would not be as productive as they are.

Selective breeding means choosing the plants or animals that have the most pronounced
desirable characteristics and breeding them. This happens when the process is replicated with the
descendants of the decided origins and over numerous periods, the beneficial characteristics improve
further and further.

What are the benefits of selective breeding for the human population? Humans have used
selective breeding to help produce crops that produce higher yields, plants that have specific shapes
or colors, and farm animals that offer better meat or complementary products with higher quality.
Summing-up, having a positive effect on everyone and everything.

To conclude, Selective Engineering is a process where humans use plant and animal breeding
and plan to develop by choosing which animal or plant will produce and have offspring together.
Selective breeding benefits the person breeding, product quality, and tastier meals. If there were no
selective breeding, then we wouldn't create the perfect pet or any other plants and animals that could
cross.
