PROJECT TITLE: Youth-TURA: Kabataan- Daluyan at Bukas ng Kultura

Project Proponent: Josh Ranzis A. Gaela (BSEd-Social Studies- I)

Introduction:

“Lucban is acknowledge to be the Summer Capital of Quezon, but as observed, it

seems to be the Summer Capital of Religious Activities in Quezon.” (Cabungcal, 2016)
Most of the religious activities in Lucban is well-preserved and sustained by the
community. One of the most preserved culture is the “Paglalatag” every Palm Sunday.
Paglalatag is done by women laying their veils in the way where the priest will walk.
People around are carrying palms which are to be blessed in that day.
Traditionally, people are weaving their palms in their own. But nowadays, most of
the people are only buying woven unblessed palms nearby the church. Even though this
does not lessen the sanctity of the Liturgical Activity, this might endanger the culture of
weaving palms. Therefore, it is sought possible to preserve the culture by conducting a
workshop. In this cause, it led the proponent to a special activity that will educate people
about this tradition during Lenten Season.

Related to the Celebration of the 70th Year of the Diocese of Lucena, it calls this
year as the “Year of Liturgy and Cultural Heritage.” This makes the possible prospective
of the project. Personally, due to religious affection maintained by the proponent, he
