CLASSROOM
MANAGEMENT
Narrative
BY ASHLYN DIECKMANN

IIn the special education preschool

classroom, we teach the students the
life skill of working together and
socializing. We might not be focused
on the more primary subjects and
relating them to real-life events, but
we teach them life skills that will stick
with them forever. This is where
classroom management comes in; a
well-managed classroom creates a
haven for students to communicate
and work together.

Reflection
A well-managed classroom creates an
excellent environment for students to learn.
For my classroom to be well managed, I need
to know my students. I need to know their
likes/dislikes/ triggers for the classroom to be
collaborative in all things that they do. When I
first started at the preschool, most of my
students played next to each other, not with
each other; over the past couple of months,
we have been fostering the students on
working with each other- building, playing in
the kitchen, etc. For example, we were doing
animal yoga; I could tell the children are
building friendships because one student
would something a couple of others would do
it too.
