Eid-al-Fitr; My Favorite Holiday

Thousands of Muslims around the world celebrate this event. Eid al-Fitr is a three-day

celebration that is a reward for all Muslims. Muslims celebrate Eid the day after last Ramadan.

Ramadan is a month when Muslims fast and thank Allah from sunrise to sunset. Since Ramadan

is based on the lunar calendar, the time of Eid al-Fitr changes every year. Eid-al-Fitr is my

favorite holiday and in this essay, I will describe how I celebrate my Eid holidays.

Eid al-Fitr is also my family’s favorite holiday. My family and I can't wait to celebrate. A week

before Eid, I started buying new clothes, getting a new hairstyle, and new gifts to prepare for the

celebration. I like to do best at celebrations. I like this holiday because everyone in my family

can get together and meet again, but the most interesting thing is to open gifts and food.

My family and I had Iftar (dinner at sunset) in a house to celebrate the last night of Ramadan. As

the moodiness faded, I was excited about Eid Al Fitr, the celebration of Eid. When the sun

climbed to the horizon and started to shine through my window, the whole family was almost

ready. Dressed in a brand new and refreshing Eid dresses, I went to the car and started the

journey to the mosque with my family. Most Muslims go to the mosque to pray for Eid al-Fitr on

the first day of Eid in the morning. This is a simplified version of our five daily prayers. Just like

the millions of Muslims in the world, we stood beside Imam ( a person who lead Muslim

worshippers) with my father and other people.

On the first day of Eid al-Fitr, after prayers, we returned home. The whole house is full of sweets

and the fragrance of "Sheer Khorma" specially made by mother for Eid al-Fitr. This made me

drool and increased my appetite. My mother provided us with delicious "Sheer Khorma" and

after breakfast, my father gave us a sum of money as my favorite "Eidi" for Eid al-Fitr. We
celebrate our holidays in a very similar way as many other Muslims. celebrate We gather at the

father's house to decorate and open gifts. After that, I usually play games such as exclusive

games and card games and listen to Eid's music with my cousins and friends. After that, we all

went to a restaurant for dinner. On the second and third days of Eid al-Fitr, my family took the

children to the entertainment and dining places of their choice. We often make and celebrate our

favorite foods and desserts at home. Sometimes, I spend nights of Eid with my friends and we

ordered pizza, and watch movies.

Without my family and friends, Eid al-Fitr would not be a celebration. On this special day, I

always try to spend most of time with my family. We usually have lunch and dinner in the

restaurant. The best way to enjoy Eid is to laugh, eat, and enjoy each other's company. Eid

holidays give me different kind of joy and happiness that I cannot explain in words. This is

actually a gift from Allah to His people. Eid al-Fitr is my favorite event and I have been looking

forward to the end of Ramadan.
