What is a Smart Board?

A Smart Board is an interactive whiteboard combined with the

functionality of a computer and projector.

The Smart Board can be used to project PowerPoint

Presentations in the classroom.

Users are able to write on the board and this can be saved or
printed out for future use.

The Smart Board is a great interactive tool in the classroom.

Students can access internet sites for online quizzes or games.
Students can come up to the board and touch it to select their
answers.
Pros and Cons of the Smart Board
Pros:
- Highly effective for large group
Instruction.
- Provides access to numerous
digital resources
- Provides “Hands On” learning
experiences with touch screen
- Great tool to use in the
classroom to engage students
- Can help develop computer
skills
Cons:
- Teachers may need additional
training to operate the Smart Board
- Takes up a large amount of wall
space
- Expensive for the equipment,
installation, and maintenance
- Can put strain on your eyes from
staring at the board in dark areas
