3.B- reflection 

For this competency I can serve as an effective resource into instructing strategies policies and
outreach for working with English language learners I have done this by Creating a resource of
websites that my ELL students can have access to as well as learning from authors through my
Author’s PowerPoint. 

For the website I have created in my teaching and learning technology classroom I am able to
further understand competency 3.B. The website has resources that might allow students more
specifically ELL’s since I have made this website with them in mind. What this website is a
collection of other websites such as apps videos classroom technology links that teachers as well
as parents can use at home or in the classroom to help ELL’s learn. The website I created has
been separated by category of subject areas that are easy to find such like science, mathematics,
history, and art etc. While creating this I learned on some new websites and was even able to
bring them into my advanced practicum to use with some of my ELL’s and share with my
mentor teacher in the 2-grade classroom I was a student teacher in. As a future teacher of ELL
students, I want to be able to provide resources to the family and the student to be able to
continue learning outside of the classroom as well as in. I want them to have tools that are fun
and engaging to them that they can play or watch videos that are helping them learn and grow. I
want to be a resource by learning more about websites that can help my students and feel like
they can help me to better improve as a teacher by asking me questions and creating an
environment where the students are learning not only in the classroom but at home with parents.  

For my second piece of evidence, I have created a PowerPoint of the author David Wiesner
sharing information about who he is and the types of books he has created as an author and
illustrator. The type of books that can help ELL student grow in the classroom this author
focuses on the magic of art and imagination that I know all children love. Giving me resources to
teach students and working alongside this author and his work to help me reach this
competency. The other has many books on YouTube that. I have link I in my power point that
you can learn at home Ells would enjoy the crafts of the books because they are easy to
understand. I will say that when in my Ell classroom my students made a mess of the paint like
Davis Wiesner activity, I brought to the classroom, but we had a lot of fun and the desk pain
cleaning was worth the fun all the students had reading a book and then doing a fun activity
after.  

Working with ELL‘s in my own classroom I want to make sure that I have different tools and
resources for them to be successful in my classroom. I want to make sure that the resources I
provide are interesting to them and having a variety like the PowerPoint and website with other
websites provide. I want to continue to use these resources in my classroom as I know they work
by using them in my practicum and found all of my students to be engaged in some of the
resources I was able to use. Reflecting on competency 3.B I feel as though I can serve as an
effective resource in creating tools that the community members, as well as staff, can most of all
my ELL students and parents.
