DEFINATIONS

1. PATHOGEN
A PATHOGEN IS AN organism that causes the disease. Our body is full
of microbes. If our immune system is weak then this microbes causes
the disease in our body. Pathogen is different from each other and each
of the microorganisms can cause different disease in our body.
2. VIRULENCE
The severity or harmfulness of a disease or poison… The degree of
pathology caused by the organism……The extend of virulence is usually
correlated with the ability of microorganism to multiply within the host
and may be affected by other factor which are conditional
3. OPPORTUNISTIC PATHOGENS
An infectious microorganism that is normally does not harm its host but
caused the disease when the host resistance is low…
Example;
Candida albicans: A causal agent of opportunistic oral and genital
infections in human……..
4. COMMUNICABLE INFECTIONS
A communicable infection is that which spread from one person to
other person through a variety of ways ……
Direct contact: with human
Indirect contact; with soil
Vector borne Such as mosquitoes, ticks
Airborne; through nasal and sneezing, water etc.
5. ENDEMIC
Endemic is something that belong to a particular people or country…AN
OUTBREAK is greater than anticipated increase in number of endemic
cases. It can also be a single case in the new area. The COVID-19 is
example of such case…..
6. PANDEMIC
An outbreak that has spread across multiple countries and continents
and usually impacts many people. It is an epidemic which spread
worldwide …IT is something different from the epidemic…..
7. EPIDEMIC
Epidemic is something that causes the disease within a number of
people or in a community…..It belongs to a particular people or country.
IT is something different from the pandemic …….
