BRIEF HISTORY: This song is sang as a solo and I personally think it is a wish for the Mindoro
people, young or old, to have clear minds and thoughts about the health or “kaligayan” of the
lives of the little ones for the next generation.

The scale is chromatic. The time signature is in duple. The rhythm also has sequence going on
since the pitch is repeated. The speed is moderato and is constant. The vocal style is tremolo.
This is a chant and is sung solo.
BRIEF HISTORY: The Darangen is said to be an ancient epic song that encompasses a wealth of
knowledge of the Maranao people who live in the Lake Lanao region of Mindanao.

rhythm also has sequence and is repeating just like a chant. The dynamics is from loud to soft
and then back to loud. It is sung as a solo.
BRIEF HISTORY: An ullalim epic is a traditional music and poetry form of the Philippines. These
are long chanted stories passed down for hundreds of years that tell the exploits of heroes.
