Narrative
My students were
struggling to write realistic
fiction. They were having a
hard time getting their
characters in and out of
trouble. I spoke with my
mentor teacher about it,
and we agreed to take a
day just for writing so
students could catch up
and I could take the time
to work with them in
groups.
Reflection
Taking the time out for a
day of writing made me
worried that I was doing
something wrong and
made me panic. It was a
learning experience to take
the time to figure out
where each student was
and where they struggled. I
focused on the students
who did not have much
writing done; they were
struggling with starting
their next book, and those
that were not on topic.
