Scientists have discovered the vital benefits of fasting, which a normal life
can’t be attained without.

Necessity of fasting

Mac Faddon, an American health scientist, says, “Every person needs


fasting, even if he is not sick, because food poisons meet in the body and
make him like a sick person, reducing his activity.

Q 2:185
Professor Nikolayev Beloy from Moscow in his book ( Hunger for Health ) emphasized
the benefits of fasting, saying, “Every person must practice fasting by abstaining from
food for four weeks every year in order to enjoy complete health throughout his life

From dawn to sunset

ِّ ِ ‫س َو ِد ِم َن ا ْلَُ ْج ِر ۖ ث ُ َُّ أَتِ ُّموا ال‬


‫صيَا َُ إِلَى اللَّ ْي ِل‬ ْ َ ‫ض ِم َن ا ْل َخ ْي ِط ْاْل‬
ُ َ‫ط ْاْل َ ْبي‬
ُ ‫َو ُُلُوا َواَ َْربُوا َحت َّ ٰى يَتَبَيَّ َن لَ ُُ ُُ ا ْل َخ ْي‬
Q 2:187
Scientific research has proven that the appropriate period for fasting should be
between 12-18 hours, after which the sugar storage & protein metabolism begins.

ُ ‫" ِإ ِني لَ ْس‬:‫واص ُل؟ قَا َل‬ ُ ‫ نَ َهى ر‬:‫َّللا َع ْن ُهما قا َل‬
ِ ‫سو ُل ه‬ ‫ضي ه‬ِ ‫ع َم َر َر‬
ُ ‫َعن اب ِْن‬
‫ظ البُخاري‬ ُ ‫ وهذا لَ ْف‬،‫متفق َعلَ ْي ِه‬ٌ "‫طعَ ُم َوأ ُ ْسقَى‬
ْ ُ‫أ‬
• In 1964, Dreanik and his assistants recorded a number of serious complications as a
result of prolonged fasting for more than one month. This is due to depletion of
glycogen & beginning of lipoprotein metabolism.

Physiologically; the sugar present in dates is absorbed quickly and reaches the blood in a
few minutes, and it gives the body the energy needed to carry out its usual activities. You
feel satisfied fast because the brain feeds on glucose.

‫َهر‬ ِ ‫ صيَ ِام ثَالثَةَ أَي ٍهام ِمن‬:‫ث‬
ٍ ‫كل ش‬ َ ‫ أ َ ْو‬:‫ قَا َل‬،‫عن أَبي ُهريرة َ ﷺ‬
ٍ ‫ بثَال‬،‫صاني خ ِليلي ﷺ‬
Lunacy: moon struck
Aristotle a Greek philosopher & pliny , a roman naturalist believed madness & epilepsy
were caused by the moon.
There is evidence that sleep patterns vary across the lunar cycle.

Wehr an American professor of psychiatry followed bipolar patients over time & found
most mood swings following a 14.8 & 13.7 day cycle.

One recent study suggested that outdoor criminality may be higher when there is more
moon light.

Sorcerers & witches have issues with the full moon. Recall movies on bear-wolves.

• Q41: 43 ; We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it
becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord
that He is, over all things, a Witness?
