A5HFI
The A5HFI transmission is used on Enoutrage models.
The A5HFI uses a variable forced solenoid (VFS) that operates on a high-frequency (600Hz)
duty cycle to precisely control the opening of a spool valve. The VFS controls the amount of
oil flow by regulating how far the spool valve moves to open the passage. The transmission
control module (TCM) monitors the feedback signal of the VFS, and sets a diagnostic trouble
code (DTC) if the signal is out of range. On an oscilloscope a good VFS produces a square
waveform patern with variable frequency.
