ACTIVITY 2A. CHARACTERISTICS OF A NATIONAL HERO

1. SELECT AT LEAST FOUR (4) CHARACTERISTICS OF A NATIONAL HERO, AND


ENUMERATE SOME ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF EACH
CHARACTERISTIC.

1. CONFIDENCE
I.A.  ADVANTAGES

1. A hero with greater confidence can help to take on the world with more energy and
determination, resulting in better relationships, quality work and a feeling of being
connected with his surroundings.

2. Being confident influence more people easily.

3. Self-confidence allows a hero to feel assured that his attempts to influence people are
appropriate and right.

4. A hero with self-confidence allow him to have a positive self-image.

5. Having a greater confidence makes a hero more willing to take smart risks and more able
to move outside his comfort zone.

IB.  DISADVANTAGES

1. One of the disadvantages of being over-confident is you became superior on everything.


You run the risk of shortchanging yourself because you feel like you are the one who is
always right.

2. When a person/hero became over-confident, he may not be as inclined to listen, to


debate merits of a point or to concede in areas where it’s in his best interest to do so.

3. Overconfidence can make a hero less likely to do appropriate research and anticipate
relevant questions and arguments from people of from opposing party.

4. High confidence can also be detrimental that causes you to lower the amount of effort
you give towards these goals.

5. It can also cause pressure as many people may depend on your ability because they
fully believed in you.
2. HONESTY
II.A.  ADVANTAGES

1. Honesty promotes authenticity and allows people to trust in your capabilities.

2. Honesty fosters connection which brings people closer to you having a safe connection
with each other.

3. Honesty strengthens leadership. As heroes are also a great leader that influence and
motivate people and must have a honest personality.

4. Honesty increase “appropriateness transparency” as being yourself doesn’t give a


person the license to destroy people with truth.

5. Also, being honest makes a person’s opinions to matter; you become an epitome of truth
when you are outspoken and honest.

II.B.  DISADVANTAGES

1. Many people may take advantage about what you know for being so honest.

2. Being completely honest allows people to easily predict your actions, reactions and cuss
words.

3. Being honest can lead to lose your own rights because you are not capable in sugar
coating information when someone asks.

4. When blurting out the truth becomes your first instinct, it becomes nearly impossible to
tell a simple lie. Something always gives it away and you're caught red-handed. 

5. Sometimes blunt honesty can be unwarranted; sometimes your honesty can rub people
the wrong way. You'll say how you actually feel about something or someone and it can
cause more harm than good.

3. SELFLESSNESS
III.A.  ADVANTAGES

1. Being selfless allows you to feel really good when as you can help people out who are in
a bad situation even though they did not ask you to do so.
2. As a selfless hero, you are building up good karma.
3. One of the advantages of being selfless is that you'll have a great chance to meet and
associate with other selfless people.
4. As being a hero is also a leader whereas It is much easier to have mutually beneficial
and satisfying friendships, partnerships, and relationships with people that care about you
and not just themselves.
5. It helps us act from our heart and soul instead of our ego, tapping into our true desired
feelings.

IIIB.  DISADVANTAGES

1. Being so selfless allows selfish people to take advantage of your kindness.


2. Being a hero always think for the welfare of others that leads him to neglect his own
needs.
3. Even people that are not selfish may try to monopolize your time and energy, sometimes
unwittingly.
4. Having a selfless character won’t stop you to give and give without knowing that you are
the one who become emptied.
5. People will always depend on you as they know that you can help them anytime.

4. PASSION
IVA.  ADVANTAGES

1. Being committed to all the services to people’s and nation’s welfare.

2. Heroism is passionate whereas you can speak out and advocate for world peace and be
a man of action.

3. Passion opens more opportunities and opens door of success.

4. Passion drives vision whereas you are capable on the things that you want to make or
happen because you willingly want to achieve your goal.

5. Being a passionate hero gives a positive energy to serve people and nation in a whole-
hearted way.

IVB.  DISADVANTAGES

1. Being so much passionate looses your interest on other things. You became much more
focused on a specific goal and less in other aspects.

2. Being too passionate about a particular thing can consume one’s life and lead to a
deterioration in other areas of life.

3. A hero with a passionate character can be so much dedicated and spend his time to his
goals and might suffer on a personal level.

4. Passion can turn into obsessive passion and may lead to frustration.

5. Passion allows a hero to work beyond his limits resulting to become restless as he
dedicates so much his time and efforts in building his goals.
