Preparation outline

Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the causes, effect and how to overcome
shyness.

General Idea: Shyness is an emotion that affects a person feeling and behaviour around the
others.

Introduction

I. Do you have a friend or someone you know a shy? Why are some people shy? So, today I
would like to talk about shyness. What is shyness?
II. Shyness is feeling uncomfortable in social situations in ways that interfere with our
ability to enjoy ourselves, to perform at the level we're capable of or that cause us to
avoid social situations altogether.
III. There are 3 main points I will share with you about shyness. The causes of shyness, the
effect and also how to overcome shyness in yourself.

Body

I. There are many causes of shyness.


A. Poor self –esteem or self-image in a person. People who have a poor self-image
may not feel confident enough or worthy enough to address themselves to other
people.
B. Shyness results from life experience in a person. They might experience some
things that

II. The effect of shyness to people.


A. Difficult to make new friend. Shyness may keep you from talking to people. It
makes other people to become close with you. These people may offer something
good to your life such as job opportunity and also happiness.
B. Shyness may decrease your performance at work. If you keep from talking to
people and low confident, your performance in work might be low. We need to
interact with people to working together and to get information and also to
exchange the idea.

III. How to overcome shyness in yourself or how to dealing with it?


A. One way to overcome shyness is practise. You need to practise to talk to people.
Start with your close friend and then to other people. It may help you to more
confidence to yourself.
B. Finds your strength. Find the unique ability or speciality in yourself and focus on
it. It will boost your confident and help you to better identify yourself. When you
are starting confidence with yourself, you will easily break your shyness.
