Introduction To System

Airline Management System contains the details about

flight schedules and its fare tariffs, passenger reservations and
ticket records. An airline’s inventory contains all flights with their
available seats. The inventory of an airline service is generally
divided into three category of classes (e.g. First, Business or
Economy class)
How many seats are available for the different booking
classes, by opening and closing individual booking classes for sale.
In combination with the fares and booking conditions stored in the
Fare Quote System the price for each sold seat is determined.
Company Profile

The web based “airline reservation system” project is an

attempt to stimulate the basic concepts of airline reservation system.
The system enables the customer to do the things such as search for
airline flights for two travel cities on a specified date, choose a flight
based on the details, reservation of flight and cancellation of
reservation.

The system allows the airline passenger to search for flights

that are available between the two travel cities, namely the “Departure
city” and “Arrival city” for a particular departure and arrival dates.
The system displays all the flight’s details such as flight no, name,
price and duration of journey etc.
After search the system display list of available flights and allows
customer to choose a particular flight. Then the system checks for the
availability of seats on the flight. If the seats are available then the
system allows the passenger to book a seat. Otherwise it asks the user
to choose another flight.
To book a flight the system asks the customer to enter his details such
as name, address, city, state, credit card number and contact number.
Then it checks the validity of card and book the flight and update the
airline database and user database.
Proposed System
The proposed system will work according to the
standards laid, by the existing system Billing designing is, as
facilitating to generate desired output whenever required.
The various features which may be provided by our system
include
Booking a ticket easily.
Viewing available seats.
Viewing flight schedules.
Cancelling ticket.
The proposed system will be developed in following stages:
 Preliminary Investigation.
 Analyzing the current system.
 Form designing.
 Programming.
 Testing.
 Implementation and evaluation.
Characteristic Of The Proposed System
 Easiness in modification of data.
 User friendly.
 Reports are easily generated.
 Sharing the data is possible.
 No or very few paperwork.
 Support strategic competitive advantage.
 Computer operator control
Scope of the system

Airline Reservation system will work in administration and ticket

reservation department in an Airline Company. In the ticket
reservation department, the staff will use this system to help the
airline passengers in their ticket reservation and passengers make
flight reservation through ticketing staff of airline or through
integrated website which can access a centralized system to check on
flight details.
Business Needs: - Airline companies need was that to increase the
organizations information systems efficiency and reliability in current
day to day transactions in order to prevent delays
Analysis
 Fact Finding Techniques
 Feasibility Study
 Hardware and Software Requirement
Fact Finding Techniques

A kind part of feasibility analysis is gathering information about the present

system. These include the questionnaires, interviews, record review and
observation. The analyst must know what information to gather, to make of it.
The proper use of tools for gathering information is the key to success analysis.

We use four fact finding techniques in our system analysis.

 Questionnaires

 Interviews.

 Record Reviews.

 Observation

 Interview Techniques
This technique is used to gather information from top people of
“AGROEQUIP SYSTEM”. Questions were asked regarding the manual
procedure of the Sales system and training. By using Interview techniques
we came to know that exactly what their requirements are?How they carry
out manual procedures? What are the major inputs and outputs to the
system?

 Record Searching
This technique helped us to know that how do they store data in their
files. Which transactions affect which types of files? What type of
updates they perform?

 Observations
This technique helped us to know the actual flow of the documents; the persons
involved in the procedures, what steps they follow. We also came to know
about the pros and cons of their manual system
FEASIBILITY STUDY

As a part of preliminary investigation the feasibility study was carried out.

The proposed system was viewed from three aspects.

 Social Feasibility:-
Although generally there is always resistance, albeit initially to any change in
the system, the system is aimed at relieving the work load of the end users. The
system has been developed keeping the customers, their need and their previous
ideas in their mind. The system is going to help the end users to perform the
maintenance of the records and report generation with the least possible errors.
Moreover the system is very user friendly. Thus, there is no reason for the
project to be socially unfeasible.

 Operational Feasibility:-
Proposed system has been developed keeping the point of view of existing
employees. The Airline Management System already has the staff with the
required technical knowledge to operate the system. So, the need to recruit,
select and train new employees to operate the system is not really felt. The
system being highly graphically interactive, the need of highly trained technical
staff is not required. Thus the system is operationally feasible.

 Technical Feasibility:-
The proposed system will be built using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 as
frontend and Microsoft Access 2002-2003 as backend which fits in the
hardware configuration specified by the organization. Thus, new system
will not be cost bearing for the organization.

 Economical Feasibility:-
Keeping in view all the other parts of feasibility, it automatically reflects the
system also seems to be economically feasible. It will reduce the organization’s
hardware and software expenses to some extent

Advantages & Limitations

ADVANTAGES

 It easy to learn and adjust to the system.

 this system does not require the staff to be highly educated.

 the requirements to tackle this job may be limited to.

 Willing to work long hours.

 data is not easily lost.

 it easy to manage the system due to the high number of staff

working.
Limitation

 Manpower
 High cost
 Time and speed
 Security
 Complexity
 Maintenance
 Accuracy
 Storing
 Records might get lost or be insufficient due to manual errors.
 Maintaining and managing data is very costly and time
consuming, because there are many documents that have to be
maintained by each branch and copies have to be transferred to
relative branches.
 Transfer of information within the branches is costly and time
consuming.
Future Enhancement
Future Scope and Enhancement

The scope of the project includes that what all future enhancements
can be done in this system to make it more feasible to use.
Databases for different products range and storage can be provided.
Multilingual support can be provided so that it can be
understandable by the person of any language.
More graphics can be added to make it more user-friendly and
understandable.
Manage & backup versions of documents online.
