Section 1.1 Purpose

Chapter 1 Introduction and technical data

1.1 Purpose
The Power Distribution Panel (PDD24) provides diode auctioneering of 24Vdc field supplies to
give a redundant supply for field devices via termination cards, or any suitable SC300E remote
devices. The redundant supply is distributed using standard plug-to-plug two-core power cables
from 48 indicating/alarm monitored fuse outputs.

Chapter 1 Introduction and technical data

A fuse blown LED on the PDD24 indicates the failure of any of the fuses. A fuse blown alarm
signal from two sets of volt free changeover relay contacts is available at the rear of the PDD24.
Optionally, the fuse blown alarm for up to 24 termination cards can be combined, making the
fuse blown LED a single fuse blown indicator for an entire cabinet.
This document is intended to provide a general understanding of the function of the Power
Distribution Panel, sufficient to enable basic maintenance operations to be effected in the field.
