Impacts of COVID-19

Everyone has been affected by the current pandemic of COVID-19. The impacts,

of the pandemic have been felt differently by people depending on their status in society. Though

some people have come up with new ways to adapt to the ‘new-normal' of living with the

pandemic, the different social groups that we belong to, determine the level of inclusion and

exposure to the vulnerability of the epidemic.

As a result of COVID-19, I have had to resort to online learning. When the pandemic

first cases were recorded, measures were taken, and as a result, schools were closed down to curb

the spread and effect on the social distancing. COVID-19 disrupted learning (Donnelly et al.),

and since learning had to continue, we had to resort to online learning as the only option that was

available.

Due to COVID-19. I have had to change my food pattern and eating habits. The

pandemic has greatly affected the entire food system, and due to this, it led to its fragility (Adey

and Aday). Closure of the borders has led to the trade confinement and restrictions, and some

food became unavailable, and now I have to make do with the available supplies.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced me to limit my social interaction. I am a soccer

player, and due to prevention measures of the spread of the virus everyone has been forced to

adhere to social distancing. I cannot go for practice or even go and watch matches with my

friends because there are no allowances for the social gatherings due to this measure that was put

in place as a result of the pandemic.

In summary, the COVID pandemic has affected my life in various ways; resorting to

online studies, inaccessibility of some foods, and limited social welfare. Even though they are a

hard pill to swallow, they are necessary measures to keep us safe.
