To the mother of the little girl my car got too close to in the Spirit Halloween parking lot on

Halloween, I sincerely apologize for having been reckless and inconsiderate of my surroundings,
which included your lovely daughter. I admit I was excited for my own Halloween plans and
eager to get to my next errand, that I did not fully check behind me before reversing my car. I am
so grateful that nothing bad happened and that I merely created a moment of panic for all of us
rather than something worse. I understand however that I was only a margin away from creating
such a situation. I told myself after that moment that I would do better. I check every time now.
Every time. I check my mirrors, I turn my head all the way around to observe my blind spots, I
take a moment after pulling the gear shift before pushing on the gas, I reverse with caution, I
even flash my brights when it’s foggy, the point is I always check. I am apologizing to you
especially because I realize I probably made you fear the worst in that moment and triggered in
you something that no mother deserves to experience. I am sorry.
