Edu 201
Good Evening parents and students, my name is Von Eduardo Ong and I am your 5th
grade teacher this year. I am so excited to get to know you and work with you this school year. I
just want to say welcome to our school and I hope we have an amazing journey throughout this
year. I want to start off by introducing myself so that you may get to know a bit of who I am and
what I do outside of school. I am 19 years old and this is my first year teaching. I moved here in
Vegas in 2012 from San Diego, California. I went to College of Southern Nevada and I am
confident enough to give my students the knowledge they need to make it through my class. I
also just want to say that I am a dog lover. I have one furry friend right now and he is a few
months old. I love taking him to the park to walk or to socialize and make other furry friends. I
am also a big fan of anime, korean drama, kpop, and video games. I own a ukulele and play it
from time to time as well. For this class, I will be discussing what our daily schedule would look
like. At 9:10 - 10:50 Am, we will be conducting math. From 10:50 - 11:20 Am, we will then go
over science and social studies. 11:20 - 11:50 Am, the students will have lunch. They will also
have a 10 minute restroom break after lunch. At 12:00 - 12:30 pm, we will do language and word
study. 12:30 - 12:55 pm, we will read aloud having a mini reading lesson. 12:55 - 1:55 pm, it
will be guided reading. The students will then have a 15 minute restroom break and at 2:10 -
3:10 pm, we will then go over writing. 3:10 - 3:30 pm, the students can conduct recess and then
will be dismissed. For this class, I expect the following from my students. Always be on time and
ready to go, no eating or drinking in class or even chewing gum, pay attention during lectures, be
respectful, responsible, and always be kind to fellow classmates and your teacher, wear
appropriate clothing, and participate. We will be reading and writing everyday and learn as we

progress this year as a class. I want my students to learn as much as they can so that they will not
struggle next year. I would rather have my students learn and fail forward, than get everything
right without knowing any knowledge. I will assign homework so that the students can also have
some sort of practice at home. We will also have quizzes from time to time to see how the
students have been performing in class. I will accept late work, but points will be deducted. I am
offering extra credit opportunities, but highly suggest the students conduct their assigned work in
order to get the full credit in the first place. One big thing for me is respecting one another. I
want students to be honest and kind in order for our class to grow and build and develop. We are
one team and one unit. In the classroom, students are expected to learn about multiple subjects.
Consistency is one of the biggest things that will help them. On certain days, our class will also
participate in field trips, fund raising, and other sorts of group activity to not only help our class
bond together, but also learn as we all get to know each other more and more. Parents are more
than welcome to participate or help out with the activities as well. It will help me get to know
each and everyone of you more. It will also help the kids spend time with their own parents as
well which is something I am looking forward to. If anything ever comes up, I will be sure to
notify the parents to conduct a parent teacher conference. If there are any questions or anything
that anybody wants to state, please do so ask now or for future reference, send me an email
through my school email that I will hand out in a short moment. You can also find my contact
information on the school website, staff section, and under my name will be the information
provided in order to get a hold of me. If students are coming in late or will miss out on a school
day, feel free to give the school a call under my extension so that I may excuse that student’s

tardiness or absence. Aside from that, thank you all and I hope that we have a wonderful year
together. Goodnight.
