A tour to visit Koraput district during 2.2.2020 to 6.2.2020 was conducted by
Department of Statistics.

Study Tour Report

A study tour from 2.2.2020 to 5.2.2020 with 28 participants and our


5 teachers was organized by department of statistics, government
autonomous college, Rourkela to visit the Koraput district of Odisha.

OBJECTIVES:-
 To develop team spirit among the participants.
 To develop the habit of time management.
 To know about the religious and historical places or institution.

 HAL Museum
 Damanjodi(NALCO)
 Upparkolab Dam
 Koraput Sai Temple
 Gupteswar Temple
 Punjisil Waterfall
SCHEDULE OF THE PROGRAMME:-

DAY1:-
3rdfeb 2020 on the first day of our tour we visited the HAL Museum
Sunabeda at koraput . We entered the museum and spend almost 1
hour there. It’s a very good place to watch on .We had so much fun
of there .

HAL MUSEUM

HAL Museum is also known as Biju pattanaik aeronautic museum . This


museum houses exhibits of HAL engine factory. It’s a very good place to know
about India developing its own air craft’s. This museum houses many aircrafts
builds by HAL .It also contains children’s park .From there we can see the very
good scene of the town.
RANI DUDUMA WATERFALL:-

Rani duduma is a beautiful fall in koraput district of odisha. it is around 40-


45 km from koraput town and 20 km form semiliguda location . it is 70 km
away from the village called Nandapur. Ithas small stream falling creating a
small waterfall. Ii is called rani duduma which literally mean queen fall, it is
also one of favourite picnic spot for visitors. We spent some refreshing time
of our life away from the noisy and polluted cities.
CENTRAL UNIVERSITY KORAPUT:-
After completing our lunch we moved towards our most awaited
destination i.e. central university koraput. We entered inside the
university to visit the statistics department . We spend almost 2 hr
inside the university.
A Programme was organised there by the department of statistics for
our students . They told us about the advantages and bright career in
statistics courses. It was really an amazing experience to spent some
time in that study environment.

Central university of odisha was established in 2009 as central university of


odisha by parliament under the central universities act by govt. Of India
situated at sunabeda town koraput district in odisha. The territorial
jurisdiction of the central university of odisha is the whole of the odisha. It
is one of the 20 new central university established by the govt. Of India
during the UGC XI plan period to address the concern of “equality and
access” as per the policy of the government of India to increase the access
of quality higher education by people in educationally developed less
district which have a graduate enrolment ratio of less than the national
average of 11%. Surabhi banerjee was the first and the founding vice
chancellor of the university.
In august 2019 it was renamed central university of odisha through the
central university act, 2009.

DAMANJODI (NALCO):-
Damanjodi is a town located in koraput district of odisha .The town was
founded as a residential area for the employees of the NALCO (National
Aluminium Company) . Damanjodi contains the NALCO Township for the
employees of the company , a semi urban neighbourhood with soaps ,a
shoping complex .The population is considered cosmopolitan in nature with
employess from all over india and locals from the tribal region. Damanjodi
has a beautiful Hanuman temple. The shree Hanuman temple complex
contains a 108ft tall statue of lord hanuman , which can be seen in any part
of the town ,as well as a temple with an ashtadhatu idol of hanuman.
Besides this it has also Shiridisai baba temple, satyasai baba temple ,
jaganath temple etc inside the township .
DAY2:-On the 2nd day of or tour we started our journey towards the Gupteswar
Temple. Gupteswar cave is a city shrine dedicated to lord siva .It is a piligrim
site situated about 55km away from jeypore, koraput district of odisha .It is a
limestone cave and its main attraction is the gigantic shivalinga which is said to
be increase in size .pilgrim from all over the country come here during sravana
period, because the early bol bam yatra is held at this place. Devotees walk to
gupteswar during bol bam yatra to bath in the maha kund, and then chant near
shiva linga.

GUPTESWAR TEMPLE:-
UPPER KOLAB DAM:-
Kolab dam is a gravity dam situated near Jeypore town of koraput district .The
dam impounds kolab river which is a tributary of Godavari river .The height of
the dam is 55m(180ft) and length is 646m(2119ft) . The majestic kolab river
generating Hydro Electric power sitting at an altitude of about 914.4m(3000ft)
on river kolab a tributary of godavri river. It is identified as the most beautiful
natural scenic attraction in odisha.
DAY3:-
On the 3rdday of our tour we started our journey towards the most beautiful
picnic spot namely Punjisil waterfall .Punjisil waterfall is situated at a distance
of 1-17km from Damanjodi and around 35-40 km away from Koraput. This
place is famous for its scenic beauty and natural habitat. We enjoyed there a
lot. We had our picnic there. It was really an amazing place to enjoy the beauty
of nature with friends and family. After completing our lunch we went to
station then we come back to Rourkela.
