ENGLISH 3 TOEIC-ORIENTED
SPEAKING TEST SAMPLE
Part 1: Read a text aloud
Direction: In this part of the test, you will read the text on the screen. You will have 45
seconds to prepare. Then you will have 45 seconds to read the text aloud. Your response
will be evaluated for pronunciation, intonation and stress.

Part 2: Describe a picture
Direction: In this part of the test, you are required to describe the picture on the screen.
You will be given 45 seconds to prepare your reply and you will have 45 seconds to talk
about the picture. Your response will be evaluated for pronunciation, intonation and stress,
grammar, vocabulary, and cohesion (your ability to balance short and complex sentences).

Part 3: Respond to the questions
Direction: In this part of the test, you are required to answer 3 questions on familiar topics.
You DO NOT have the preparation time for these three questions. For questions 3 and 4,
you will have 15 seconds in order to reply. For question 5, you will be given 30 seconds to
respond. Your responses will be evaluated for pronunciation, intonation and stress,
grammar, vocabulary, relevance of content, and completeness of content.
Questions 3 - 5: Imagine that a Spotlight firm is doing research in your country.
You have agreed to participate in a telephone interview about
cultural activities and events.
Question 3: How often do you participate in cultural activities or events?

Question 5: What do you consider when you decide to take part in a cultural activity

Part 4: Express an opinion
Direction: In this part of the test, you are required to give your opinion about a specific
topic. The topic will be something familiar, something you might have read or heard about
in the news. You will have 30 seconds to prepare your response and 60 seconds to speak.
Your response will be evaluated for pronunciation, intonation and stress, grammar,
vocabulary, relevance of content, and completeness of content.
Question 6: Do you think that companies nowadays provide less quality and service
to make a larger profit, compared to those of the past?
Give specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
