 The process involved in writing LR1
• To illustrate the correct methodology for LR1, I
demonstrate some example of a good & a poor LR1.
• While writing your LR1, you need to constantly refer
to your Problem statement (PS), Construct (C), Sub-
research question (SRQ) and Research objective (RO)
in order to produce a critical writing that represents
your research.
• This process will guarantee originality of your
writing.

developing a theory or new knowledge.

systematic & verifiable inquiry (Ibrahim,2011).
As a guideline, a quality My POD should has these
characteristics:

1. Highlight critical keywords (relates to PS & SRQ)

2. Identify phenomenon/event
3. Create “statement of rule” or “cause & effect”
(Phd research > 2 effects.

4. < 40 words (minus quotations)
5. Change & improve subtitle (to be sub-titles to your discussion)
Comparison between OK quality & Better quality of LR1

Sediso, B. G., & Lee, M. S. (2016) studied on indoor environmental
quality in Korean green building certification criteria—certified
office buildings—occupant satisfaction and performance. Sediso,
B. G., & Lee, M. S. (2016) highlighted a comparison study of two
green office buildings and two conventional office buildings
through post-occupancy evaluation on nine indoor environmental
quality criteria in relation to occupant satisfaction
and performance between Korean
green building certification criteria-certified and non-Korean
green building certification criteria-certified office buildings. Their
study found that Korean green building certification criteria-
certified buildings had better satisfaction scores in office
furniture, cleanliness and maintenance, lighting, and thermal
comfort quality which can be implemented in fulfilling community
needs in the context of building performance criteria for mosque.
However, Sediso, B. G., & Lee, M. S. (2016) on focus on indoor
environmental quality for office green building and therefore
some of the findings may not be applicable for representing
building performance criteria of mosque. Therefore, based on
Sediso, B. G., & Lee, M. S. (2016) my study will focus on indoor
environmental quality criteria as well as other building
performance criteria that will facilitate community needs on
mosque facilities.
Better quality LR1
Sediso, B. G., & Lee, M. S. (2016) stated on occupant satisfaction and
performance on the indoor environmental quality of office building
certified with Korean green building certification. Sediso, B. G., &
Lee, M. S. (2016) conducted post-occupancy evaluation on nine (9)
indoor environmental quality (IEQ) criteria; office furniture,
cleanliness and maintenance, lighting, thermal comfort quality,
office layout, indoor air and indoor public space qualities. They
highlighted on four (4) IEQ criteria which achieved better on
occupant’s satisfaction and performance namely; office furniture,
cleanliness and maintenance, lighting, and thermal comfort quality.
These criteria can be used to improve the IEQ of mosque in order to
attract community to the mosque. However, Sediso, B. G., & Lee, M.
S. (2016) only focus on indoor environmental quality criteria for
office green building and therefore some of the findings may not be
applicable for representing other building performance criteria for
mosque. Therefore, based on Sediso, B. G., & Lee, M. S. (2016) my
study will focus on indoor environmental quality and other building
performance criteria that will help to improve mosque facilities in
order to facilitate the contemporary needs of mosque community.

 Lesson learned
• The process of developing critical LR1 that is tailored to your
research PS & SRQ is a trial & error journey, particularly
when you combine with the use of EN web based software.
• Therefore, it is imperative to improve the LR1 in order to
produce effective POD when you input in EN software.
• As the saying goes “Garbage in, garbage out”.
• In order to ensure productivity work in your research, you
have to adjust to the correct methodology of work as
discussed earlier.
