The analysis on performance and cost of the various NGCC process configurations was executed on

based on process simulation and economic study. The assessment of operation cost (e.g., fixed
operation cost, variable operation cost and fuel cost) and investment cost (e.g., TCC and owner’s cost)
was executed for economic study. The suggested configurations include NGCC with amine system
(Case-1), NGCC with CLC including an air reactor cooler (Case-2), NGCC with CLC including
excess air inlet (Case-3), and NGCC with CLC including excess air inlet and ST integration (Case-4).
Some meaningful conclusions could be drawn:

1) Plant efficiency and power generation:

The Results between simulation and NETL report data were compared. The error of the simulated
results for the power plant efficiency are less than 5%. NGCC has a plant efficiency of 52.6%,
whereas NGCC with amine has a plant efficiency of 43.9%. NGCC with CLC has a plant efficiency
of 39.9% to 44.3% differently depending on the process scheme, but the most efficient Case-4 can
have a higher plant efficiency than NGCC with amine. The net power generation of each case are
484.2MW, 459.4 MW, 510.1MW and 510.1MW. Both plant efficiency and power generation are
strongly influenced by process configuration, and from this viewpoint, we conclude that Case-4 is the
most competitive. The reason is that the amount of air fed in Case-4 is large, so the turbine produces
more power. And the ST can produce more power, because there is no need to consume the large
amount of steam required by the regenerator

2) LCOE

LCOE refers to the price at which electricity must be generated from a specific source in order to be
discontinued even during the project period. Whereas LCOE of each case are 100.8$/MWh,
107.6$/MWh, 98.5$/MWh and 98.5$/MWh, NGCC has an LCOE of 68.7$/MWh, whereas NGCC
with amine was calculated as 100.8 $/MWh. Compared to our understanding, NGCC with CLC Case-
4 has an LCOE of 98.5 $/MWh, so it is more competitive than NGCC with amine.

3) CO2 capture cost

Case study’s of CO2 capture cost are 77.4$/TCO2, 86.7$/TCO2, 73.6$/TCO2 and 73.2$/TCO2. The cost of
CO2 capture per ton also shows a similar trend with LCOE: NGCC with amine is 77.4$, whereas
NGCC with CLC Case-4 is cheaper at 73.2$.

In conclusion, it was confirmed that plant efficiency, LCOE, and CO 2 capture cost is more
advantageous than amines when using CLC to replace CO 2 capture. In addition, environmentally
friendly content, it has the advantage that the generation of NO x is small, the absolute amount of CO 2
emitted to the atmosphere is smaller than that of NGCC with amine, and it does not use amine, a
pollutant.
