b) Find the angle of elevation from the kangaroo (K) to the base of the tower (B),

Braden purchased the combination lock shown to


the right to use on his gym locker. The lock can be
set to any three digit code using the three barrels
which each carry the digits 0 to 9.

a) How many 3 digit codes can be set on the lock?

b) What is the chance that the code Braden set:


i. has an even three digit number? (1 mark)
ii. has an odd digit on every barrel? (1 mark)
iii. is a number greater than 300? (1 mark)

c) After some prolonged use Braden found that the last barrel of the lock is now stuck on
zero. How many combinations are now available for his use? (1 mark)

d) A few months later, he also found that the middle barrel could only be set on 3 or less.
How many combinations are now no longer available for him to use? (2 marks)
