Q.19 In the month of December 2020, it rained heavily throughout the day over the city of Thanjavur.
Anil observed the raindrops as they reached him. Each raindrop was in the shape of hemisphere
surmounted by a cone of the same radius of 1 mm. Volume of one of such drops is 3.14 mm³.
Anil collected the rain water in a pot having a capacity of 1099 cm³. [Use √2 = 1.4]

Q.29 a) In Figure, ABC is a quadrant of a circle of radius 14 cm and a semicircle is drawn with BC
as diameter. Find the area of the shaded region.

b) A car has two wipers which do not overlap. Each wiper has a blade of length 25 cm
sweeping through an angle of 115°. Find the total area cleaned at each sweep of the blades .

Q.30 a) Water in a canal, 6 m wide and 1.5 m deep, is flowing with a speed of 10 km/h. How much
area will it irrigate in 30 minutes, if 8 cm of standing water is needed?

b) A well of diameter 3 m is dug 14 m deep. The earth taken out of it has been spread evenly
all around it in the shape of a circular ring of width 4 m to form an embankment. Find the
height of the embankment.

Q.32 If A & B are (– 2, – 2) & (2, – 4), respectively, find the coordinates of P such that AP =(3/7)AB
and P lies on the line segment AB.

Q.33 Draw a circle of radius 3 cm. Take two points P and Q on one of its extended diameter each at a
distance of 7 cm from its centre. Draw tangents to the circle from these two points P & Q.

Q.34 Two dice, one blue and one grey, are thrown at the same time. Write down all the possible
outcomes. What is the probability that the sum of the two numbers appearing on the top of
the dice (i) 8? (ii) 13? (iii) less than or equal to 12?
Question No 34 to 36 are Long Answer Type questions of 5 marks each. [3*5=15]
Q.34 (i) state and prove Pythagoras theorem.
(ii) A triangle ABC is drawn to circumscribe a circle of radius 4 cm such that the segments BD
and DC into which BC is divided by the point of contact D are of lengths 8 cm & 6 cm
respectively. Find the sides AB and AC.

Q.35 A solid consisting of a right circular cone of height 120 cm and radius 60 cm standing on
a hemisphere of radius 60 cm is placed upright in a right circular cylinder full of water
such that it touches the bottom. Find the volume of water left in the cylinder, if the radius
of the cylinder is 60 cm and its height is 180 cm.
(or)
A tent is in the shape of a cylinder surmounted by a conical top. If the height and diameter of the
cylindrical part are 2.1 m and 4 m respectively, and the slant height of the top is 2.8 m, find the
area of the canvas used for making the tent. Also, find the cost of the canvas of the tent at the
rate of Rs. 500 per m2. (Note that the base of the tent will not be covered with canvas.)

Q. 36 The given figure depicts a racing track whose left and right ends are semicircular.

The distance between the two inner parallel line segments is 60 m and they are each 106 m long.
If the track is 10 m wide, find :
(i) the distance around the track along its inner edge
(ii) the distance around the track along its outer edge
(iii) the area of the track.
