Father Joaquin G. Bernas was a college professor at Ateneo de Manila Law School. Father
Joaquin earned a lot courses like Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Greek and Latin. In year
1962, he also received his Bachelor of Laws degree from Ateneo de Manila Law School. He was
ordained as a priest in 1965. The mission of Ateneo de Manila School of law where he
graduated says “The mission of the Ateneo Law School is to form graduates who are
academically excellent and competent, spiritually developed, socially involved, culturally
rooted, and globally connected.” And the Vision was ”We envision graduates who are not only
skilled in the science and art of the law but also leaders imbued with a burning passion for
justice and the desire to serve the nation for the greater glory of God.” “He has contributed
immeasurably to keeping the Ateneo Law School true to its identity and calling. The Ateneo Law
School’s debt of gratitude to Father Bernas can never be truly repaid,” Hofileña said one of the
friend of Father Bernas. It only proves that Father Joaquin really dedicate his life in serving
others. Father Bernas was also got the 9th place in his bar examination on Law school in year
1962. Bernas friends, students, colleagues and government officials paid a tribute to him on
what he does and contributes to the nation. Father Joaquin Bernas did an amazing job and
many people admire him because of what he did, some of his students surely made him their
inspiration. Father Bernas also contributes on the Social Justice of Human Rights because he
believes that every person has their own rights and there is nothing wrong with it unless it can
hurt other people. Fther Bernas prove us that teaching is not only by teaching your students but
teaching is by touching and inspiring your students to grow and become a product citizen who
loves his country with kind, selfless heart and dignity.
