TASK 72-00-65-200-000
1. General.
A. Inspection of the accessory gearbox assembly is done with the
assembly installed or removed. This level is for inspection and/or repair as specified in
the approved module maintenance procedures. These procedures contain a visual
inspection and, as necessary, a dimensional inspection of the specified areas. Refer to
Figure 701.
F. Inserts for:
NOTE: When replacing ring lock inserts per 70-48-07, install 7/16-20 ID X
9/16-24 OD insert with 200-225 lb-in. (22.6-25.4 N.m) torque.
(1) Looseness
Maximum Serviceable Limits: Not serviceable
Maximum Repairable Limits: Any amount
Corrective Action: Replace per 70-48-03 (TASK 70-48-03-350-
006), 70-48-04 (TASK 70-48-04-350-007), 70-
48-06 (TASK 70-48-06-350-009), 70-48-07
(TASK 70-48-07-350-010), or (TASK 70-48-08-
350-011), as applicable
Subtask 72-00-65-160-052
A. Clean splines with solvent C04-002 and a small brush to remove all
foreign material.
Subtask 72-00-65-210-054
B. Inspect: (refer to Figure 701)

TASK 72-00-65-200-000-002
6. Mechanically Check Splines if required.
This mechanical (dimensional) check is used whenever the visually
estimated depth of wear is marginal with respect to specified serviceable limits.
Determine actual wear as follows:
Subtask 72-00-65-160-070
A. Clean splines with solvent C04-002 and a small brush to remove all
foreign material.
Subtask 72-00-65-210-055
B. Mechanically check splines as follows: (refer to Figure 702)
(1) Select proper pin diameter and place pins in spline; use a light coat of
grease to hold pin in place.
NOTE: If wear is not over entire length of tooth, pin must be short enough to
be within worn area. A pin 0.250 inch (6.35 millimeters) long is desirable.
TASK 72-00-65-200-000-003
7. Adjacent Area Visual Check.
Perform a visual inspection on exposed areas of all removed components.
Also, visually inspect exposed areas of engine. Visual inspection shall be for overall
condition.
Subtask 72-00-65-160-053
A. Clean splines with solvent C04-002 and a small brush to remove all
foreign material.
Subtask 72-00-65-210-056
B. Check the following areas:
NOTE: Visually estimate depth of wear on splines by comparing worn and
unworn area of tooth. If estimated wear depth is marginal with respect to
serviceable limits, inspect per the mechanical measurement method (TASK 72-00-
65-200-000-004).
NOTE: The presence of rust colored wear deposits in the area around the
bearing plus visual evidence of wear on the ball or adjacent parts usually
indicates the serviceable limit for looseness is exceeded.
(c) Dents
Maximum Serviceable Limits: Any number 0.188 inch (4.78
mm) deep
Maximum Repairable Limits: Any number provided part does
not crack
Corrective Action: Replace housing or remove dents by passing a
2.40-inch (61.0 mm) diameter steel rod through
housing. Inspect ID after repair
TASK 72-00-65-200-000-004
8. Adjacent Area Mechanical Check (Alternate to paragraph 6).
Perform a mechanical check on splines from removed components.
Subtask 72-00-65-160-054
A. Clean splines with solvent C04-002 and a small brush to remove all
foreign material.
Subtask 72-00-65-210-057
B. Mechanically check splines as follows: (Refer to Figure 702.)
(1) Select proper pin diameter and place pins in spline; use a light coat of
grease to hold pin in place.
NOTE: If wear is not over entire length of tooth, pin must be short enough to
be within worn area. A pin 0.250 inch (6.35 millimeters) long is desirable.
(2) Use micrometer to determine measurements over pins.
(3) Take two readings, 90 degrees apart. Reject part if either reading is
beyond serviceable limits.
(4) Clean all grease from spline when measurement is complete. Coat spline
with engine oil C02-019.
(5) Check horizontal driveshaft spacer:
