Evaluating Prezi 2

Abstract

Prezi is an online program where anyone can create presentations based on their topic. There are

slides that move around and can explain specific information regarding that topic. Prezi is great

for beginners who want to be able to introduce a new subject to someone. Unfortunately, many

features cannot be accessed unless the premium accounts are enrolled. This means that the free

accounts get the basics, but when paying for Prezi, the user has the ability to do many things.

The free program is amazing for younger students, and even older students as well because it

gives them the opportunity to present to their classmates, while making it fun and entertaining.
Evaluating Prezi 3

Prezi is a Web-Based program that makes traditional and boring presentation slides into

entertaining and eye-caching diagrams that keeps people interested in the topic. These types of

presentations can be shown to people of all ages, including kindergarten students all the way to

college students. They can also be used in businesses and in jobs after graduating college. There

are many things to create in Prezi and there are even templates to help start a presentation.

Privacy, Data Protection, and Rights

The first thing to do when opening up www.prezi.com is to sign up. That is the first

option the website offers. When pressing “Get Started”, the website asks the user to create an

account. This means that in order to use this website, everyone must be signed up. The user can

choose from signing up with a Google account, a Facebook account, or a Microsoft account. At

the bottom, the user must certify that they are 13 years or older and there are links to the Terms

of Use, as well as the Privacy Policy. After creating an account, a pop up is shown to the user

explaining all of the different packages and premium accounts they can have. These

memberships all cost money, but have free trials included. It also gives the user an option to

invite friends to sign up with Prezi.

Prezi claims to “process your Personal Data in compliance with relevant laws, fairly and

in a transparent manner”. They do collect data when their services are used, and they state that

third parties may collect information about the user when they use their services. When signing

up with an account, the user has to agree to the Privacy Policy and to what data they share, but

unfortunately, they do not get a choice in what data gets shared. After signing up and creating a

presentation, archiving, saving, and exporting the data gets tricky. The information gets

automatically synced and saved to the account and is also able to be archived and deleted easily.

When it comes to exporting the Prezi, the only option the free account has is to share the link.

There is no way to download the presentation or keep it private. That Prezi can be available to

anyone on the internet, unless the user signs up for the plus accounts. With that, the user can

download their presentation to any device as well as keep it private to themselves on their

account.

Functionality

Prezi slides are accessible to anyone on the internet, regardless of an account. Once a

project has been published, it can then be presented to anyone. The website does give the ability

to collaborate on Prezis with other accounts. It also provides instructional videos that are very

clear and understanding of how the website works. There are also tutorials that explain how the

slides work and how to create your own presentation. The templates are also a great option to

help get started on creating a presentation. This website revolves around the visual aspect of

presentations. There are no audio options when going through the slides, but the user can add

videos that include sound to help accommodate to hard of hearing students.

For every website that brings in many people, tech support should be something they all

have. Prezi has a few options but are limited depending on your account status. Firstly, Prezi has

a support system where the user can type in a question and different pages show up with the right

answer. The website also gives you the option to go to chat support or phone support to speak to

a representative or there is a community support where users can ask each other questions. There

is a fourth option to send a help request, but the problem would not be solved immediately. The

premium members get all of those options: chat, phone, and community support. The free

members only get one option: the community support. Unfortunately, not all members are able to

get the full support they need with Prezi.

Prezi is a great website to create school projects with, present a business pitch, or even

for personal use. Even though the premium accounts have access to more things, the free account

is still able complete the basics with this website. It’s fun and creative but is also able to help

people learn from it too.
