Brief
Hotel- A hotel is an establishment that provides paid lodging on a short-term basis. Hotel operations
vary in size, function, complexity, and cost. Most hotels and major hospitality companies have set
industry standards to classify hotel types. An upscale full-service hotel offers luxury amenities, full
service accommodations, an on-site restaurant, and the highest level of personalized service, such
as a concierge, room service, laundry,banquet,conference, etc.
The business and tourist sector flourishing in Punjab. A Hotel Chain intends to Constructand a
Three Star Hotel of Approved Standards to fullfill the needs of Current Situation. The Site is located
in close proximity to the Chandigarh Mohali Airport in sector 62 Mohali The design of the Hotel will
be guided by the geographical location of the Hotel. Hotel will be designed in such a way that it
could handle large number of guests at one time because there is a possibility of guest checking in
large groups and around the clock.
The plan of the Hotel should be such that it should be functional and also appeal to the eye. All the
services should be so designed that it meets various principles of lay-out and design
This design problem intends to make the students understand the principles and approach towards
designing of recreational complex in context of urban design, climatic conditions, orientation,
environmental components and regional character of the city.
