Vice President, Private Equity

Role Summary/Purpose:

The Vice President will be an experienced private equity investment professional that can assume responsibility of an
existing portfolio of private equity investments. The VP will manage key relationships with PE partners and serve on
Advisory Committees and may also serve of portfolio company boards as a director or observer. The VP will source
investment opportunities and lead small investment teams to screen, negotiate and monitor fund investments and
direct co-investments, primarily in North America. This position will be based in Stamford, CT. State Street Global
Advisors has decades of private equity investing experience and currently has $6.8 billion of assets under
management.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Complete rigorous analysis of Private Equity partnership and direct investment opportunities across an array of
investment types, strategies and sectors
• Lead teams to construct, review and maintain financial models for existing and potential investments
• Monitor performance of existing portfolio companies and analyze future acquisition and financing opportunities
• Perform valuation, investment return and sensitivity analyses
• Lead reviews of private equity fund and company offering materials, quarterly financials, accounting reports and track
performance of fund and directly held portfolio companies
• Act as lead in due diligence meetings
• Prepare and effectively deliver internal presentations (e.g. investment committee)
• Participate in special projects on an ad-hoc basis
• Lead small, global investment teams

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a business-related discipline or engineering/science degree with applicable


experience
• At least 15 years of work experience and 10 years of relevant private equity or transactional experience in alternative
investments, corporate finance or investment banking
• Prior roles which required regular use of financial modeling, analytical skills and transactional decision-making

Desired Characteristics:

• Advanced MS Excel skills, including experience modeling complex transactions, and strong MS PowerPoint skills

• Outstanding quantitative skills, including strong valuation, financial modeling, research and accounting/finance skills;
able to synthesize complicated analyses concisely and to articulate insightful conclusions compellingly
• Familiarity with applications used for business and industry research (e.g. CapitalIQ, Bloomberg, etc.)
• Experience with financial statement analysis and accounting
• 10+ years of transactional experience in alternative assets, corporate finance, investment banking, or most
preferably, private equity experience
• Deal sourcing, diligence, risk analysis and underwriting experience
• Strong track record of investment performance
• MBA or other relevant advanced degree
• Strong process skills and project management experience
• Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation); ability to effectively communicate recommendations
and rationale to internal and external stakeholders
• Capacity for differentiated thinking and ability to challenge the status quo in order to support optimal investment
decisions
• Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes
• Strong research skills, with ability to incorporate qualitative and quantitative analysis into assessments
• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with ability to creatively problem solve – results driven
• Ability to demonstrate initiative and work independently; aptitude to self-direct and set priorities in a dynamic
environment
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization and
develop/nurture external relationships
• Strong team player who is able to work collaboratively and develop strong working relationships with team members
• Highly organized, focused on deadlines, with a strong attention to detail
• High energy level, self-motivated individual with intellectual curiosity and passion for investing
• Strong work ethic, demonstrated personal and professional integrity
• Experience managing small teams and being part of high performing organization that is committed to risk excellence
• Ability to interface with clients and client prospects
