Rational Statement:
This artifact is a Lesson plan based on a model to describe the cycling of water
through the Earth’s system driven by energy from the sun and the force of gravity. This
artifact relates back to standard 7.i.2 “ The teacher plans how to achieve student’s
learning goals, choosing appropriate strategies and accommodations, resources, and
materials to differentiate instructions for individuals and groups of learners.”
(Professional Development in New Jersey, 2014,p.9) Standard 7.i.2 focuses on the teacher
being able to provide resources and materials to achieve each student’s learning goals.
This lesson focuses on the teacher being able to provide the students with their sources
like their book used in the lesson and the materials used for each student to create their
own water cycle.
As a future teacher creating this lesson got me thinking about what hands-on
activity could be appropriate for the students to be able to learn and develop their own
cycle in a clean and timely manner. It also made me realize that even when planning
your lesson things can get messy and your ultimate goal set for the lesson may not be

reached and you would have to expend or postpone the lesson to another day. It made
me realize that as a teacher you have to be careful with the resources you are providing
for your students and make sure they are appropriate and also the materials that the
students can handle them and are not dangerous to their safety.
In the future, I can refer back to this lesson plan and reflect that in the future
making lesson plans has become easier and that I am able to reflect and create better
lesson plans for my students and both in the content area as well creativity.
